Every college football fan needs to watch this. These kids are human beings, with more on their plates than most of us can imagine. The toxic fan activity really needs to be reigned in. We have at least one kid at UM that is struggling too, no need to mention names. Wishing good thoughts for Harry Miller. He will make a bigger impact away from the game, and I wish he was a Cane. I cried with him.

Brave of this kid to come forward and tell his story. Hope he continues to get the help he needs, he obviously is struggling with some serious demons, considering he contemplated suicide at 8 years old.
 
People who say 'just suck it up' to mental health issues just don't get it. Life is not the same for everyone. To me it's like metabolism and weight. Some people can eat all they want and never gain any weight.. that's a overly happy person. There are others who eat normally and have a normal metabolism. There are others who have to put in tons of work to keep from gaining weight. Then there are some who no matter how much work they put in gain weight anyway. Some folks have to run **** near a marathon every day just to stay close to normal weight. Imagine having to run a marathon every day just to feel normal. It's a hard fight and it's tiring. If you take a break it all floods in and depression, anxiety, ocd, or whatever it is just takes over and dominates you. It's not a weakness. If you know someone with mental health issues it's a fine line to walk letting them know you love them and are there for them while giving them the space they need to work through it. You can't pick them up and carry them to the finish line, it doesn't work that way. But, you can give them a hand to help themselves to the finish line. Empathy should be the word of the day every day.

Side note: Savanah can get it.
 
That is a brave young man that deserves a ton of credit. He will have more positive influence with this message than he ever will playing football. He is clearly an intelligent and thoughtful young man and will have lots of opportunities outside the game. Wish him all the success in the world but most importantly, I hope he can find his way to happiness.

I think we take a lot of stuff for granted and don't realize exactly what a lot of people are going through. I appreciate Harry being brave enough to put his personal struggles out there in public and hopefully others dealing with similar issues can use him as a role model.

People my age often criticize the younger generation (I’m 42)

And in many ways sure they ask for it. But they’re dealing with things that we just didn’t have to deal with and there’s no playbook for this

The good news is there’s lots of resources out there now if you’re willing to put yourself out there like this young man did
 
I came across his statement a few weeks ago and was moved by it. He seems like an intelligent, remarkable young man who is unfortunately battling some demons.

Hopefully, this serves as a reminder to everyone on this board to adjust criticism of the players. Most will never make it to the NFL. These are kids. I happened to meet Zach McCloud not too long ago and he was so articulate, thoughtful and genuine. That was a reminder to me to temper how I say things here.

People could never comprehend the demons we all fight on different levels. Most of us pick up sports as a way to deflect. A way to discover something more... But this is a bi-product of success as it is failure. This kid seems like an amazing person and I'll be rooting for him. He clearly has a far bigger calling then sports and I hope this is his light. That's one thing I'll always love about lashlee is he truly cared about the boys under him. As you said, no need to mention names. I'll be praying for that boy to get through and keep fighting his demons. It's important as fans that people realize this isn't always bright lights especially when those lights burn.

Says the grown man with a avatar of a children's toy... Some people gravitate towards kids for different reasons and to call a dude a pedo for that alone is border line ****tard ish. Myself I hate people. I'm an animal person. People in large part are phony and only show themselves when it serves them a purpose. You know what people aren't like that? Children. Children haven't yet been tainted by society and if they have they atleast still have hope for something more. They're innocent to a society that destroys everything it contacts. Some people simply need to be reminding everything and everyone in life isn't part of this cess pool we exist in... Bruh be better than that as it's in you. Entertainment isn't that serious that you gotta make a comment like that about a dude just for the purpose of dialogue.

There's a reason grandparents are always nicer. They're old enough to have seen that children are fantastic little creatures as long as you don't have to maintain them. He's gotten to see that without the usual difficulties.
