Orlando has completley turned on us

UCF is not in downtown Orlando. East outskirts of Orlando. That's like saying Doral is downtown Miami.
Uncle, I deleted my post, was getting wore out. Thanks for educating me. I moved to Ocala a while back and Orlando is fast becoming aUCF town, as a matter of fact they fired their President a while back for using illegal funds to build dorms and a huge campus in Downtown Orlando.

LOL hardly. Literally everywhere I go someone always comes up to me saying they are a fan....Atlanta, Vegas, Charlotte, air planes, etc. heck even in Birmingham, Alabama you got people still reppin the canes (and all of those were just in the last month).

Dallas suburbs too. We all look sadly on our lost legacy.

Years of neglect destroys the present and future fan base. When younger people grow up seeing an awful product they root for and become fans of other teams. The University of Miami has done some serious damage to there future fan base.

Look, all these people arguing that Central Florida is "Gaytor Country" are just missing the point.

I moved to Orlando in the early 1970s. I grew up rooting for UF, F$U, and UM until I enrolled at UM, and have hated UF and F$U ever since.

Merchandise, sports radio, and other outward displays of fandom didn't become a big thing until the 1980s. And, yes, in other areas of the state (Orlando, Tampa, SW FL) you could usually find Florida Big 3 merch. Now, the team that gets squeezed out by UCF in Orlando and USF in Tampa is Miami. You can ALWAYS find Gaytor merch, and you can usually find F$U merch (sparse the last couple of years).

We have to deal with reality and math. The only way that any store (outside of the big sporting goods chains) are going to carry UM merch is if we start winning the ACC and making the Final Four (football or hoops). Sports radio outside of SoFla will talk about us when we win. But the massive size of UCF and USF, and the massive size of their alumni bases, will continue to put UM (at least in Central Florida) in fifth place in the discussion. Unless we win big.

That's why we should put UCF and USF in the ACC. Because the best way to be in the mix, and the best way to appeal to fans outside of SoFla, is to be a relevant part of the media coverage year-round. Rivalries. Games that matter. Too many pvssy Miami fans get scared of "Miami elevating UCF and USF by allowing them into the ACC", and they ignore how Miami will always have the edge over UCF and USF, historically and by being in a better talent hotbed.

We should move to CUSA or Sun Belt, where we rightly belong, before the ACC kicks us out for stealing money.

Purely winning. When USF was i the Top 5 polls there was "Bulls Country" stuff everwhere in Tampa, but now it pretty much Noles and Gators again from what I can tell, although I only visit there now.

Dark. Very dark.

Look, we are not "stealing money" any worse than Vanderbilt or Wake or Iowa State. Could we be doing more? **** yes.

We give the ACC access to South Florida media and talent markets. That alone should be worth our revenue share check.

Now we need to do it on the field (and in the fieldhouse).

Another reason UM needs to get better real quick. Number wise their alumni base is microscopic compared to the other state schools.

UCF is the biggest school in the country.

FIU is the fifth largest in the nation.

Both of those schools are well represented in South Florida. Combine that with the already decent sized Gator and Seminole base down here, and Miami will quickly find itself being even more irrelevant if they don't start winning big again.

Just be honest, though, when you walk into any Tampa area WalMart, Target, Costco, or Sam's Club, you will find USF gear. Maybe not an entire aisle of it, but it's there.

Those are the mass-market retailers, and they carry USF gear in Tampa. The ratio may favor UF and F$U, but I see green/gold merch every time I am in Tampa. It catches my attention because it fools me, I think I might have found some UM stuff, but no, it's USF garbage.

I was about to say the same thing. It is north east almost to Seminole county, nowhere near downtown. I did love going to school there though.

Yep.

People freak out because they think that if USF or UCF beats us one time, it will break some sort of magic spell.

I guaran-freaking-tee you, if we take USF and UCF into the ACC, and if Miami beats them 75 to 80 percent of the time, Miami will win most of the major recruiting battles, and our fanbase outside of SoFla will grow.

The road on the north side of the football stadium (McCulloch Road) is the Orange County-Seminole County line. Nowhere near downtown Orlando.

Pffft

We don't even own Broward county. I lived there for 15 years and it was all gators.

Well it is understandable, UCF is in downtown Orlando, and they win, win a lot. They may also be 5 times our size

UCF'S main campus is in east Orlando about 20 miles outside of downtown Orlando. UCF recently opened their new downtown campus before that their downtown campus was in a small convention center behind the Marriott. Their main campus is beautiful as are the big booty coeds running around out there.

Go Canes
