Orlando has completley turned on us

UCF becoming the largest school in the country might have something to do with that.

This.

Football program has also grown leaps and bounds over the past 20 years and the Daunte Culpepper era that originally put them on the map.

Side note; I never remember Orlando being 40% Canes. No chance. 90 minutes south of Gainesville, that has always been Gator Country.

Yep.

People freak out because they think that if USF or UCF beats us one time, it will break some sort of magic spell.

I guaran-freaking-tee you, if we take USF and UCF into the ACC, and if Miami beats them 75 to 80 percent of the time, Miami will win most of the major recruiting battles, and our fanbase outside of SoFla will grow.

We used to schedule some of these schools as patsies. We are now reaching even lower.

Well it is understandable, UCF is in downtown Orlando, and they win, win a lot. They may also be 5 times our size

UCF isnt in DT. they just opened a few buildings there but theyre in east orlando. there are a TON of UCF grads in the area that has something to do with it as well. there are still ton more UF fans than anything

Cut the crap, I am well aware that there will be a downtown campus, but that is NOT where 50,000 students are located.

Ooooh, Miami has a med school campus in downtown Miami. We are still located in Coral Gables, and to make the argument that UM is "in downtown Miami" would be idiotic.

also, will they even get approved to have a law school with the two other schools in the area?

Absolute truth. WE JUST LOST TO FIU. WE JUST LOST TO LOUISIANA TECH.

And UCF just finished in the AP Top 25.

If Miami fans are still living in the past and thinking that Miami playing USF/UCF, or the ACC inviting USF/UCF to join, are the LAST BARRIERS to "giving those schools legitimacy"...

Well, it's the old way of thinking about things that has gotten us to where we are today.

USF and UCF are strong schools and strong athletic programs. We need to bring them into the ACC.

AND THEN WE NEED TO BEAT THEM.

Well im not here often, but I am here now and just giving my perspective. I remember going to a bar back in 2005 where there was a plaque with Jimmy Johnson celebrating the national title. Wearing a hurricane hat and having people say Go canes. I always felt it as more Canes than anything but I could be wrong. Now, UCF flags, banners, merchandise everywhere I look. Listening on sports Radio they actually called UCF 2018 national cjamps. It feels different and that was my point. Some people take this stuff too serious.

Another reason UM needs to get better real quick. Number wise their alumni base is microscopic compared to the other state schools.

UCF is the biggest school in the country.

FIU is the fifth largest in the nation.

Both of those schools are well represented in South Florida. Combine that with the already decent sized Gator and Seminole base down here, and Miami will quickly find itself being even more irrelevant if they don't start winning big again.

I wish Miami was a big *** state school. I'm finding it harder and harder to find the benefits of being this expensive *** private school and your not in the company of Yale, Harvard, or even Michigan.

Dont tell the BOTs that. They're convinced UM is the Harvard if the South.

If they were smart, theyd ditch the Ivy League comparisons and carve out their own, renegade niche.

Huge opportunity for them to get into the burgeoning tech hub in Miami.
