In all seriousness, an undefeated season is a real *****. Most who make it to the big show aren't undefeated, nor is the eventual national champ. You lose one and can still punch your ticket for a shot, no shame in that.

I think Herman is a realistic and viable option though.

I agree with you in some regard. We have all named a couple dozen coaches that are better than any coach we have had the last 2 decades. The bar is really, really low.

That said, I can’t imagine that if we actually decide to buck up and pay real money, we can’t hire a good coach. Nobody can tell me with a real AD and $$$, Miami isn’t more attractive than Cincinnati or Lexington or Aimes, Iowa, all of which currently host better coaches than the ineptitude we have in the Gables. And I think Herman would come here in a heartbeat.
