Orange Bowl

This thread has officially taken me out of the funk I've been in since about 3:30 on Friday. Orange Bowl game against Bama, UGA or possibly OSU if we lose on Saturday? Sign me the eff up for that.

I personally prefer the Orange Bowl over being grouped in with the controversy and displeasure that's sure to happen this year. I could only imagine Miami getting the nod for the top 4 over a team that could too make a legitimate case, losing handily in the semi-finals, and having to hear about how team X would have made it a better game, Miami is overrated, etc.

Save the playoffs for when we control our destiny and never relinquish that control.

OB against Georgia was always the the tv network's wet dream,Richt getting revenge on them for firing him will be talked. about to death.Hopefully we win the game at home and avoid ending the season on a 3 game losing streak as we head into recruiting season.

Dude, that would be sweet consolation. The Miami fans showing up to Hard Rock one last time this year to cheer Richt on for coming back to his Alma Mater after being fired.

I don’t care about avenging marks firing. Beating uga is nice but beating Bama or OU is better. However, right now I don’t see us playing in the Orange Bowl game. It is way to close to the first playoff game. Clemson will have to take care whoever gets OB game.

I just don’t think 2 loss teams should get in personally. Vilma was on CFB live recently and made this same point. The hardest part is winning the game. One loss can be forgiven, but two is just too much. Have to rebound at some point.

Same goes for 1-loss teams who were embarrassed in their loss (Georgia). No excuse for just not showing up. Ohio State qualifies for both the 2loss and being embarrrassed.

Win or lose, OB is the worst we can do. If we lose, then definitely. If we win, then it will depend on whether Bama or another 1-loss team is ahead of us for the #4 CFP spot. But this is a minority view. If we beat #1 Clemson in what will practically be a home game for them, we should be fine. I'll be happy if we go to the OB. This was a great season no matter how you put it. Been awhile since we played a bowl game at home. Atmosphere should be electric. GO CANES!!

Auburn is getting in if they win next week.

To me it doesn't matter. You pay your debt for losing by dropping in the polls. If you right the ship while teams ahead of you go down, it's completely unfair for a group of people to eliminate a team without any mathematical formula to justify it.

Alabama happened to be in a conference where one loss to one certain team eliminates them from their conference championship. It certainly won't hurt them, and they get an extra week to rest while Auburn and UGA have to suit up again. Under a ranking system comprised of non-biased formulas, Alabama has to blame themselves for losing when they lost. If the committee continues to lead with natural human bias, it's a trend down a slippery slope where the integrity of the playoffs will never exist.

As a general rule of thumb, losses should be crucial and important, but if OSU beats Wisconsin, there is nothing on Alabama's resume that gives them the edge. You have two 2-loss teams with potential to finish in the top 4, and if the committee feesl a 2 loss conference champ doesn't deserve a shot, sit back and watch the chaos ensue. Football is a game that emphasizes the importance of how you finish, not necessarily how you start. Whether it be in games, or throughout the long stretch of the season.

When you have the human element involved in the ranking process, you essentially set a precedent each and every time you rank a team. A precedent that is unlikely to be revisited because of the amount of variables involved in each season. With the BCS, you have a consistent formula that doesn't discredit or pander to any particular team that the numbers represent.

I would be inclined to agree, but the Auburn situation is an odd one. Handily beat the then-#1 team twice in three weeks, and then beat one of them in a rematch for the SEC title? The odds of that happening are like winning the lottery.

If there was a strong 1-loss team from the PAC12 this might not be an issue. Had USC lived up to early hype, and/or Washington not fallen back from last season a 2-loss SEC champ would be out of the picture.
