If I am not mistaken, opponents FG percentage is 100% this year. At this point in the season, when a team lines up for a FG I already put 3 on the board. Never seen the likes of it. I watched a Syracuse kicker slip and fall and make a 45 yarder. I watched a sorry NC kicker have a career day. This week we play a VT kicker who is 13 for 20 on the season. Somehow he will become Adam Veneteri this week.

What I have learned so far this season when watching Miami play are 2 things. No matter what, the opposing kicker will make all FG's. Not one offensive holding will be called on opponent.

I hate that we backed off and didn't rush that 45 yard FG yesterday. That dude had a sore leg, and his previous long was 42 yards. He's been erratic all year too, and we chose not to put any pressure on him.

Our STs is basic. Would really love to bring in a STs grey beard in the offseason and get that 3rd phase rocking.

Yup. We are cursed in that regard. Nobody ever misses.

And I can't even remember the last holding call that went our way

Exactly what we should use the 10th spot on. Anyone know of any hybrid LB/ST coaches?

You could find someone easily on the NFL scrap heap. Great STs at UM can win us an extra game a year.

Them making or missing as almost zero to do with us. Kickers just making kicks. It is weird but I imagine at some point someone will miss .

Seemed like we blocked one every other game last season. Not sure whats up with that

Vt’s Kicker is good too. Doubt much changes next week.

Yeah I think the perception with that K being good is that he started strong. Last two seasons he has been very erratic. Makes tough kicks misses gimmes.

He really isn't. 13-20 this year. 76-105 for his career, which is 72%. He's 1-10 from 50+ and 19-32 from 40+

Pretty sure he broke an all time VT record last night but wasn't really paying attention. Announcers were praising him but those numbers are no bueno.

16-16 this year. VA Tech kicker struggling? No problem. 3-3 on Saturday. Not necessarily a bad thing if that happens though.

They were afraid of the fake.

Maybe for number of kicks made? He's a 4 year starter, but he misses a ton.

It’s been that way for multiple games. Everyone backed off the long FG vs Syracuse. We contest PATs more than FGs.

I actually take the field goal stat as a positive for two reasons. First, we still won all of the games. Second, there is almost always a reversion to the mean, so at some point soon, our opponents will miss a number of FG attempts.

They shouldn't have been. You saw how the fake looked on the previous kick.

In my opinion, we're not aggressive enough on special teams. We don't try to block anything. Garvin did a fine job of blocking the punt yesterday, but it wasn't a designed play - just all effort.

We've, once again, only been aggressive on defense.

We need to become more aggressive on offense and special teams to become a far more dangerous team.....

Basic is being nice. I wouldn't mind an offensive "analyst" in the booth and a ST coach toward the 10 on field coaches. There's not one aspect of special teams outside of Badgley's FG kicking that resembles even an early stage of Miami special teams.
