Rumor (OP speculates that) Dawson (might be) gone?? (but does not provide any info)

19 years ago on canestime I broke the news that our then DC had been "let go", forget if they fired him or let him resign, on canestime a full day before the university planned on announcing it. The players didn't even know yet. Everyone told me I would be banned, to offer proof (couldn't reveal the source....it wasn't someone in the program), and then it leaked out from the university, based on calls placed largely because of my post, that Walton had been let go.

To call my situation in regards to Walton's firing unique is an extreme understatement. I don't think the OP has any real information.

Looked it up; Walton was fired.

Yes. To call our plays and help with our QBs.
In the NFL, Monken is the only one comparable to Dawson with the air-raid paired with the same type of run game. Buster Faulkner (obviously not NFL) is his only relevant discipline and has a different run game.

Like you said, Rams with the splits and similar run game. Disciple of the Shanahan’s which is the greatest offensive tree in NFL history, which im sure im not telling you anything new.

I can’t point to anyone specifically because NFL has so much west coast offense influence in passing game and run game diversity. I would say Ravens, Bengals, Rams, and Jags. Brian Callahan was a big duo guy and Cincinnati does less of it now than when he was there… obviously his dad was heavy influence for that especially with his Dallas experience. Basically any OL guy is going to love that style.

I think Shanahan has moved further away from most of his disciples and most closely resembles Mike McDaniel of any former assistants that came from his tree.

From a tight splits perspective, the Packers have thrived on that and it’s a staple for them. Another piece of the Shanahan tree. Also, the Eagles continue to do it even cycling through a new OC every year.

Specific names of staffers below HC and OC… i really don’t keep up with the NFL that much from a staff perspective. I would say probably Mannion from the Packers. I like Conner McQueen with the Raiders (doesn’t fit what we do) except from a passing concepts standpoint. Parks Frazier with the Eagles (notably took over playcalling for the colts under Jeff Saturday). His background started under Chris Hatcher as a QB playing at Murray State and coaching under him at Samford.

Agreed but oddly enough most of us preferred the offense after SMU which we felt was more Dawson, and less Mario/Mirabal.
So it’s possible that Dawson might leave on his own over the philosophical differences more so than Mario pushing him out.

But leaving a team that is poised to be good for years seems foolhardy for a coordinator.
Maybe Mario is finally going to hire Toledo's HC. I believe he was let go and took an assistant position somewhere.
You know what they say, "If at first you don't succeed....

I think beck arm was not 100% healthy and down the field accuracy wasn’t consistently there, plus outside of Toney no real down the field juice at receiver or threat at tight end. I will take what we did on O this year honestly and still made the championship game despite being handcuffed.
Joshua Moore started hot and then it just disappeared the second half of the season. I don’t know what happened.

Lots of smoke out that that Dawson is gone.
