It’s very telling to me that the majority of the fan base feels unsure about our Defense (year 6 under Diaz) compared to our Offense that was one of the worst in the nation, last year. Amazing what a real coordinator does.

I think it's largely personnel. I know people debate Baker and Rumph, but the difference between now and 2017 is the players.

Unfortunately, I don’t think this Defensive scheme will beat the Clemson’s of the world. Terrible matchup for us.

Its good quarterbacks that will always give this defensive scheme problems. We tend to sell out for the sack and typically leave people open all the time. Good qbs will find the open man.

It's nice to not be worried about the offense though. Our defense stands a better chance than in the past. Stop Etienne and we gain the advantage.

Lashleee has two weeks to prepare for their defense. He can look at film from this year and last year when LSU passed all over the field on them in the second half.

Defensively we will have to bend and not break and get some turnovers.

Specials teams has to improve a bit , Pope better get his head straight or it is going to be X in the first half and Hall in the second half.

I think the biggest thing for Pope is making sure if he has to be out of control just to get to the punt he needs to let it bounce. Also has to hold on if he has time to run.

I know field position is important but TOs can swing a game more than anything.
 
Per The OBB, The D has givin up 55 plays of over 10 yards already...70th out of 72 teams. That number seems astronomical to me, and yes, it makes me uncomfortable, especially relative to playing Clemson. What is it the result of?

Good QB’s give every scheme a problem but point taken. For me, more so than the good QB, Clemson’s staff is going to run a Offense that makes us look lost because our staff has the inability to defend these types of Offenses. Our LB’s are going to look stupid. The misdirection and tempo will eat us up The more film I watch the more I cringe at the thought. Let’s just pray our Offense exceeds expectations and scores on their Defense. I am frustrated because a Defense with that many NFL players should be able to slow Clemson down and keep us in the game.

Who knows. It’s 2020, I hope the Defense surprises me and tells me to go **** myself.

They are going to kill us with misdirection. And you are right, with the quality of players we have on defense we would be better off playing a more fundamental, NFL style of defense. Much like Pitt does. Regardless, I still think King has a heisman moment type of game and we come away with the W.
 
No way king moves the ball up and down with ease. The key to the Clemson game is cleaning up stupid penalty’s and just tackle. You do that and Miami has a chance.
 
I think it will be a game into the 4th, with us just trailing. It will be a big play occurring that will swing the tide and momentum of the game. Let’s hope it’s for our side - it could be the difference between an amazing victory versus a 17pt loss
 
Our D is gonna surprisingly show up because Manny is taking the reins this week in defensive scheming and game planning. I don’t think we’ll see the crazy out of rhythm blitz packages.

Roche, Knighton and Borregales have huge games in all three phases respectively.

Borregales wins this game with 5 field goals, and the last one for the win.

What the **** is the point in having a DC if the HC has to take over in tough games?
 
Does this defensive staff of Baker, Patke and Rumph look like a group that will take us to the championship game in the next 2 years?
Because that's how long I think Lashlee stays. After that it is back to the drawing board for Manny. We better make hay while the sun is shining...
