Dont give Blake James any more matches to burn down the program. The spotlight needs to be on getting James fired first. Only then is it worth having the conversation about the next HC.

Things that might save Diaz's skin.

1. Ed Orgeron gave Diaz the blueprint to an instant fix. Diaz makes around 3.2 million. Venables makes 2 million. Fire Blake Baker, offer Venables 2.5 million and full control of the defense (hiring/firing all personnel). Not farfetched as it would be almost identical to the Ed Orgeron model (Eddie O makes 3.5, Aranda makes 2.5). Richt made 4.5, the school said it would give him 1.5 mil for an OC. Diaz+Venables costs the same as Richt plus OC. Added bonus that this hurts Clemson bigly. Eddy O put his pride aside for the good of the team. I think Diaz is too insecure do that, which is why he hired weak nobodies who cant challenge his authority.


2. Fire the OL coach and hire Bill Bedenbaugh as co-OC (non playcalling) and the OC in waiting. He only makes 800k at Oklahoma. You can take it to the bank that Enos will bolt within 3 years for a HC job. Bedenbaugh is dying to call plays one day, and it will never happen at Oklahoma since Riley calls the plays. It's pretty much a guarantee that Miami will need to hire another OC before Diaz's tenure is over. We would have the most promising prospect in the fold, who could incorporate elements of the Oklahoma offense. Additionally, we would have one of the best recruiters in football in house. It also doesn't burn Enos. Best of all worlds.

3. The other reason my plan works better than firing Diaz at the end of the season is that firing him means Miami probably has to pay out the remaining 3 years at 3.2 million. That's almost 10 million to fire Diaz, only to give James another chance to further destroy the program (and he'd probably be desperate to save his job and try to offer 8 million to Oregon to get Cristobal) . I'd rather invest 10 million in Venables to help Diaz than throw 10 million away in contract penalties.

Overall that's equivalent to 18 million for Diaz to hire an ace staff and pump millions into recruiting for the same cost of firing him and hiring a new HC. Again, Diaz I honestly think Diaz is too full of himself to believe he needs a staff with more coaching experience than him.

Our team has fallen so far off those in power and those playing don't have a clue what championship teams look like or how to run one.or what it takes to be one.whoever gets the next gig to be our hc it'll be like back in the day when lou passed baton onto howard.face it canes this will be a major rebuilding / overhauling of our team.1or 2 yrs won't fix it gonna a lot longer to build that sustaining foundation.
 
If he beat the **** out of himself and issued a personal apology to me I would only hate him 75% as much as I do right now. I guess that's as far as I could ever get back to
 
He needs to get himself a "consultant" meaning someone with coaching experience to guide him, be a sounding board and from the distance of the press box tell him what to do! Actually several of the ACC teams have them!

I think it really reflects on you if you don't fire assembled staff if they haven't lived up to expectations. In the end, coordinators have far less leash than head coaches do when it comes to the chopping block. You find out quick if some guys are more effective as assistants versus being a coordinator or even a coach.

I was told by a mentor that if something is important, measure it. So you can look back and see how things are going and if you need to make adjustments. Unlike Richt and Jon, and Golden and D'Onofrio--Diaz needs to not follow suit and stick with Baker if he isn't turning the ship around. College Football is a cutthroat business. If he can't fire a dude for lack of production, I've been propping Diaz up for all this time, he's dead to me.
 
I want to see how we finish the season first. We are 4 plays away from being 5-0. The reason we didn’t make those plays is we lack that detail needed to be great. We can get over the hump and become a good, solid team by the end of the season. Let’s see how we do.

(I would be happy if we ended the season like in 2016. Remember we started that year 4-4 and lost all four games by one score or less.)
