One thing I’m hearing about Carson Beck from the Hecht…

…is that he has an excellent football IQ. And Miami just had Cam Ward, so they know what elite football intelligence looks like.

Beck is someone who has banked a ton of reps in a mentally demanding offense in the SEC. When Shannon Dawson spoke to Todd Monken (offensive coordinator for the Ravens who coached Beck at UGA), Monken vouched heavily for both Beck’s physical talent and his ability to see the game. So far, that is playing out in the meeting rooms.

I think game dictates how you play. Beck was erradic as evidenced by last pick. We were already in FG range and chasing points all night. Tying and stealing one in OT seemed our best course they way the game was going. **** Beck couldn't even hit a two yard out without getting a pick at that point.

You had 3 timeouts and a chance to steal the game without going to overtime.

Respectfully, I don’t understand your logic. Again, like ND, putting faith on a college kicker from 40 yards out.

Explain to me the difference between Miami having the ball at the 30 with 2 timeouts after they took one and 56 seconds left and chance to score a TD to win the game and steal it vs going to overtime, where you get the ball at the 25 with 2 timeouts, where you still must throw the ball and no matter what you do, Louisville also gets a shot with the ball?

Give me the ball with a chance to win and no overtime with 2 timeouts in the 4th quarter 100/100 times.

I don’t think it’s a football IQ issue. It’s more like an unfocused QB issue, with a pocket full of money, and too many distractions. Also, not playing 2 of the past 3 weeks is not beneficial. The only positive, UM cannot not afford another loss and if Beck wants to get drafted, neither can he. The Canes will win out, but not sure how the ACC will play out with GT and Louisville. We may not make the playoffs, because the ACC isn’t getting 3 teams in the CFP, even if they are 11-1.

So on the last play lets say it was completed for a first down and he gets oob. Clock stops. You are now in reasonable FG range so then maybe you can take a shot or two. Who knows what they were gonna try but it's all moot if you throw a pick.

When you can’t protect, have 1000 false starts and holds and can’t run the ball and can’t scheme anyone open and………Beck had a bad game but to be all the way down I think is scapegoating the QB for the aweful coaching decisions game planning play calling and just outright bad play from the supposed best unit in America oline
Wildest take I’ve seen. He was not under pressure for half of those picks. He threw the game away every time the team fought back. He is the highest payed player by far. He didn’t have a “bad” game, he had the worst game of any player or unit on that field BY FAR. Did you not see the replays with a receiver open while he threw those deep interceptions?

Would of helped having Jeremiah that last game, hate to beat a dead horse but man oh man him and Toney. Even though Beck would throw some picks they play us differently with both of those guys. Every big miss just comes back to cook us always, and then we play these what if games after we lose.

Sorry friend, but there is no way the canes will win out. History will repeat itself.

Fair, but he threw a pick because Lofton ran the wrong route but regardless, the play call sucked! That play reeked of playing for the FG!

If it was 3rd and 1, it’s a good play call.

That wasn’t the case. You can still throw to the middle of the field and get chunk yards and still have plenty of time to run your offense.

Should have just went wildcat with Toney. He was feeling it last night. Ride the hot hand.
