One positive......kinda

I think they need to start working in the young OL and let them start the take snaps away from the older guys.
IMO

50 gets to the second level and pulls a lot better than JJ. Jones seems too unathletic and sloppy to playing guard. All the dL beat him when he pulls , and that causes the issues in the backfield.

Jones started the second half after 50 played well, then he immediately gives up an unprotected shot in the backfield to either rosier or a rb. I’m pretty sure is was Malik. Dude just shot through and blew the qb up.

Then the staff pulled him immediately. I don’t get their issues with not playing the best guy. They’re being hard headed, at multiple positions.

Rather see:

LT-Scaife
LG-Boulware
C-Gauthier
RG-Mahoney
RT-Donaldson

That could likely to be our OL next year with Gaynor or Reed in there for Gauthier. This is obviously just to rotate a young guy in at a position he could be the starter at next year.
You want to bench our best lineman, put a true freshman at LT who's never played the position before and leave Mahoney in? Yikes.

I’d like to see Scaife start to get some PT at LT, at the moment he’s probably the most likely starter at that position. I don’t want to see that OL unit during meaningful snaps.

Scaife got reps at both tackle spots against Toledo.

Gotcha. I think Richt and Searles are looking for Campbell at LT and Scaife at RT next year.

So you're removing St. Louis who's our best tackle?

As I’ve mentioned more than once, I’d like to see to see that line start to get some snaps together in garbage time in the upcoming games because that could very well be our starting OL next year.

No I’m not looking for Scaife to supplant St Louis as the starter for the rest of the season.

But the issue with your theory is that it only gets Scaife on the field during garbage time. Scaife SHOULD replace ND at RT now. Move ND back inside, he is a big strong dude but I am not seeing it from him outside. Though I thought he got beat up a lot last year, but a lot of that was just being a freshman IMO. But he is not currently playing like the OT we all hoped he would be that's for sure.
LT: St Louis-Campbell
LG: Bull-JJones/Reed
C: Gauthier-Gaynor
RG: Donaldson-Mahoney/Reed
RT: Scaife-Donaldson or maybe even Herbert/Hillery

I would reserve ND as the Emergency T if one of those guys gets hurt, but Use Campbell as their back up to give them a blow for now. And to allow ND to focus back on G. I think this would set us up to get those younger guys some burn and still be a pretty strong lineup.

I watched the film several times paying close attention to the OL. I was gonna jump on here to point out what a great job Boulware did...so I'm glad to see this thread.

Although not a perfect performance he played with physicality and moved guys out on several occasions. The long DJ Td was right behind him where he made contact and turned the DT making a lane for DJ to go untouched. Also, ran right behind him to pick up a few 3rd/4th and shorts.

So far, he's been a HUGE get for our team.
