One play changed the whole game

That play changed the momentum, the non holding call gave them the two score lead, and the non PI call that led to int 2 kept the momentum on their side. It was a perfect storm that went totally against us. We didn’t help the cause by not sustaining a drive. There wasn’t a total discrepancy in total yards, but a complete discrepancy in T.O.P. It was 2009 all over again. No way we should’ve lost this game, but honestly, Richt should recruiting the ish out of ELITE OL, DT and DB this off season. I don’t ever wanna get pushed off the L.O.S this frequently again.
Getting pushed off the LOS will continue to happen unless we adjust our S&C program. take a look at UGA and how they look now that K.Smart has had 2 year to put in his program. UGA is bragging they have 4 RB's who are squatting 600 lbs ! that does not come from S&C.
you want to play big boy football you need to compete on all levels......more to S&C than diet and training

Close friend of mine in the S&C thinks Felders outdated.

The non-PI call that took a good ahead scoring drive into a Wisconsin 10 play drive that turned a 3 point lead into a 6 point lead and killed almost half a quarter was the game changer.

That and Badgley missing a 7 yard field goal after a quality drive.

Sorry, he's a strength and conditioning coach at another program. There's a current wave of S&C philosophy being taught in the NFL and top programs and he doesn't think Felder is there.

W/ all the injuries we’ve had, along w the lack of strength at the point of attack, I may tend to agree w ur friend.

Wis just more talented at several positions, OL, QB, TE , possibly DB. However DB’s and OL holding over half the plays and refs looking straight at and not calling. Richt right in blowing stack. With one more class we have coming in this should not happen losing to this team.

If they are more talented it is because of better evaluation and development, which is on the coaches. We have always recruited at a much higher level than Wisconsin and if they have a more talented team it's a failure of evaluation and development by our coaching staff.

Maybe not this staff. Our QB, most of our OLs, DBs were brought in by the prior staff. You can complain about Dee Delaney, Jhavonte Dean, but it was the old staff which put us in position to need transfers.

Most of the OLs were brought in before Richt. We only played one true freshman at guard because of poor recruiting before Richt. I still don't understand why 4 and 5 star OLs turn out to be so mediocre, though.

Up 14-3 with all the momentum, croud roaring, defense swarming, and then disaster struck when McDermott whiffed on that blocked and Rosier put it right in the de's belly. Then we start to overcome that play and we were coming back, down 21-24 in scoring territory and Rosier threw another untimely pick. We just aren't good enough to overcome both of those horrendous plays.
I was just saying the same thing to my wife come here and see this post ... IMO we were on our way to a double digit win

yet a kid like jaquan gets no love from media and they act like mcdermott is a star smh

You can't say one play lost the game... but that play did change the momentum... IMO we stop playing football in the 4th quarter of the Virginia game... started deflating at that point and never made it back... on offense and defense.. Can't start a fire without a spark... we are in desperate need for a spark

right. on NUMEROUS calls the refs changed momentum but its been this way for 30 years. Jimmy johnson use to say dont like the refs control outcome. we need talent level to be where we can just beat people down. Im not defending richt because i been burned before. but im willing to give him until next year when we finally have depth and his kids as sophs and juniors. no one thought we were a 10 win team, 11 if we play ark state.

How about these 2 plays:
The pass interference (holding) call that was and the one that wasn't.

1. You mentioned the one that wasn't. Could have been a TD, at worse a FG (attempt anyway)
2. The one that was. DB holding Harley on what would have been a TD, Settled for 3.

Yep, said the same thing last night. Even a 3 and out and a punt could have kept momentum in our favor. Sucks. Trying to focus on the progress made this year and my preseason goals being met but the way the season ended still stings.

We need to keep improving our roster and it's depth, need most of juniors minimum to come back and we need to improve at OL and QB, bottom line. I believe we will. The future is still bright. We went 10-3(should have been 11-3) with a very limited QB, won the Coastal and beat FSU, ND and VT. We're bringing in more dogs next year and hopefully Richards can stay healthy because he's a big time difference maker.

PS The refs were trash last night too, ****ed us on critical plays and we were still right there. I really believe we're close.

Sh#t happens. Yeah, it was a momentum change, but it didn't give them the lead. It was the 2nd quarter and got them to 14-10. You guys have an amazing ability to predict "what would have happened" if that pick isn't thrown. Every game that Miami loses- things always would have gone perfectly for Miami and we win 100-3 if player X doesn't make that bonehead pass, drop, missed fg, etc. We still had 80 yards to go. Could we have scored again there? Sure. We also could have stalled and punted, they get a punt return td or make a circus catch for a td. Or we drive down to the 37 and attempt a 54 yard field goal that is shanked (oh wait).

Or maybe a quality team gets punched in the nose, weathers the momentum swing, and then finds a way to make a play to swing back momentum. In the past, that often meant a Miami player made a big kick return. We had literally zero chance of that happening since it didn't happen a single time this season (makes me angry just to type that). Or a playmaker on defense creates a turnover. Or a playmaker on offense takes over. Maybe with a better qb or healthy AR82 we hit a few deep. Maybe Herndon trucks a dude an rumbles to the end zone. All those possibilities- kick return, Herndon playmaking, AR82 takeover, qb tossing a perfect deep pass had zero or near zero probabilities.

We had one player on offense who was able to generate a spark on offense- a true freshman named DJ Dallas. Richt went Wildcat, which was successful, but then didn't switch up the look at all. No motions, giving Wildcat look then having Rosier run under center and vice versa. It's like he thinks deception is not sporting. Anyways, when you play a quality opponent (and Wisky is a tough team), rarely will every ball bounce in your favor. Championship teams have to be able to recapture momentum, and in this respect, the team is still too much of an Al Golden team that folds under pressure and has an unusually hard time with recapturing momentum.
