One Observation from Yesterday

My observation is we will be better off if Dawson goes somewhere else next season. Wow that guy makes things difficult for himself.

I was like "ehh not so sure" by reflex reading this.

Then remembered I typed this last night with 8:00 left

Wake the **** up you yokel *** cousin ******* piece of Pomerainian **** Shannon ******* Dawson

How do you even say this? We are going to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game and you want to can the OC? Sure the trick plays didn't work (that time) but football is not played in a vacuum. You want your players playing, not thinking, right? A flea flicker keeps the safeties from crashing on every hand off... You've got the defense thinking... You realize that EVERY SINGLE PLAY that worked was also called by Dawson? All of the runs that worked.... Its just mind numbing how this board ******* about running into stacked boxes and then ******* about creativity. But of course, through hindsight you could call a better game.

I ***** about creativity when Miami isn’t able to move the ball and just keeps running into the A gap. The Miami OL was pancaking the DL the entire night but Dawson would dip into his bag of tricks instead of just doing what was working until they stopped it. That said, he called a masterful game against TAMU and OSU, so I guess he is entitled to one stinker.

My other observation is Miami needs to invest in a JUGGS machine for the DBs. They dropped two pick sixes that went right through their hands. TWO! They didn’t make the impact plays I expected them to make in a game that important.

I think Mali cat has worked, I would keep that in the back pocket. Especially vs OSU I believe we went to it in a hurry up and caught OSU off the ball for an easy 5 yards.
Keep it but throw in a read option or pass option. The straight dive isn't fooling anyone anymore.

31 Points
459 Yards
41:22 TOP
11/19 on 3rd down
2/2 on 4th down
Not to mention the final drive was a masterpiece

We should've won by 3 TDs and the problem yesterday was not this offense. You can disagree with some of the playcalls but the unit more than did their job. Did they kill some momentum? Maybe. For all we know, putting that stuff in play opened up more opportunities for our bread and butter to succeed by giving them more to think about. His unit delivered.

Even if that turns out to be true, it will be largely due to the foundation Dawson laid and the trust he instilled in CEO Mario in his captains (and the forward pass).

He schemes stuff up well but has very average in game calling ability. I’ve commented a bunch that he just seems to have a bag of plays that he randomly pulls from. For every great call (tunnel screen on 3rd down against OSU) there are 10 flea flicker failure calls. Some coaches get into rhythm and just roll. He gets rolling and then sabotages himself thinking he has to mix it up.

This is not complaining because it’s win by any means necessary at the end of the day. But this team simply doesn’t know how to keep foot on the gas offensively. One game this season we kept our foot on gas and that was against Pitt. It has not come to bite us thankfully
I don’t think people know the difference between keeping our foot on the gas and actually just shooting ourselves in the foot

It’s kinda dumb to keep saying we take our foot off the gas when we are calling flea flickers and trick plays going for kill shots ain’t it?

Too many times he calls plays like he doesn't understand the team's strengths or what's working in the drive. Shoehorning your philosophy is just amateurish at this point.

That was last night I agree but many games this season it wasn’t a flea flicker/trick play issue when the offense stalls after taking a lead with a chance for the throat

I dont think a play call has enraged me as much as the flea flicker. My family looked at me like I was a complete psycho as I was screaming at the tv.
