One area that’s concerning

Beck is going to show why he was in the Heisman discussion back in September.

Sadly I still think Dawson is the weak link when it comes to the offense. His tendencies and lack of diversity in his gameplan were apparent again last week. Texas gashed A&M on the ground and Fletcher ran easy in the first half yet he didn’t see it or was too stubborn to accept it. Should have moved the ball easy against them in the first half. Just as he couldn’t see it when teams were stopping the run he refused to see it when it’s there.

He’ll need to scheme up a **** of a game plan and use some of those tendencies to set up OSU and exploit their scheme. Whether it’s more TE involvement or using Toney as a decoy, Dawson is gonna have to be on his A game.

Our offense has always been our weaker spot. Beck is our Achilles heel
Our skill position room, outside of Toney, is not elite. I hope Beck balls out and plays the game of his life, because I don’t think 10 points is winning this one.
I know people are going to be laughing at this, but Bauman could be the key here. If he can get a few 1st downs and 1/2 a dozen receptions, it may help open up the offense.

Short to Intermediate Passing Game

I can’t stress this enough. If we can’t throw a forward pass for a 5-12 yard gain with any kind of consistency we are in trouble. I’m not talking about any bubble screens to Mali where everybody and their brother knows he’s getting the ball 4 yards behind the LOS and we get maybe 1 yard.

A bunch of 3 and outs where we can’t pass isn’t gonna cut it. We need Beck and the receivers to deliver 250+ yards in the passing game. We’ll need even more if we get stuck running between the guards for 1-3 yards a carry. Hopefully, after the aTm game, we’ve found a better way to use the oline the the RBs better

Beck needs to have a clean pocket, also need some quick release patterns early on. Don’t think those WR screens are going to work.

Good points. But I still think our DL has a great chance of disrupting Sayin and their run game. And we can do enough in our run game to not be 1 dimensional. But no doubt at some point Beck is going to have to make some big throws downfield to win the game. I just wanna see Dawson use some tempo like that one drive in the third in conjunction with the run game.

I agree that the wr’s getting separation is key but reading coverage is difficult when you don’t know if it’s cover 8,6,4 or 2 and it all looks the same pre snap. Any coverage can be undone but can it be undone if the qb is confused by what he’s seeing pre snap.? Thinking it’s 4 deep when one side is that and the other is actually cover 2 ( cover 6). Just that second of doubt or patting the ball leads to a sack or turnover. Which has given Beck fits for years.
So how does a QB make that determination in a second? What does he loook for in such a short time?

Good write up.

I think we can break a few big runs to flip the field in th game. Beck has to make passes, but we need pass catchers outside of Toney step up.

Itd be nice for Daniels to step up and have a big day. This is a money maker game. Big game that can get real eyes on him. FSU was a while ago. Lofton needs a good game this year. Somebody gotta step up.

Also...good point with this being a Bevk turning back into a pumpkin game just as much as it could be his return to the top.
I’d be very surprised if CJ was able to get off in this one. Piggybacking off of cribby OSU isn’t just gonna take away option 1. They take away option 2 as well. I’ll keep saying it til I’m blue in the face. We need jojo. Ran a lazy but great route and was open at a&m for 6. He has that ability. He can do it. Gotta try it

For example in pre snap I see two high safeties and motion shows it’s zone I have an idea what it is but I won’t know for sure until the snap. Just like a single high look in pre snap. Then after the snap the picture can change. That’s why coaches preach processing being a huge part of the position. There’s also the schemes where they show as late as possible or change in pre snap. Brian Flores being one. But you need extremely smart players. Play design and route concepts are also a huge part of the result.

What did Indiana do? They held them in check pretty **** good… oh good defensive line causing havoc and dropping back in coverage.

I know Mendoza wasn’t covering Jeremiah on an island
OSU’s offense isn’t concerning other than the two beasts they have out wide. It’s a methodical offense that depends on one of those guys out wide winning matchups for explosives. Sayin won’t cause near the issues as Reed with his legs so we’ll be able to focus on dropping guys and focusing on coverage. That said Sayin is a good enough athlete to break your back on 3rd and 4

Jojo is so frustrating. All the talent but effort is lacking at times. He should be so much better.
