One area of major improvement for TVD

Funny how so many coaches look great once the QB situation is not only good but elite. Not saying TVD is elite at this moment. Rather, look at someone like Dabo and his record without Watson or Lawrence (or Boyd, who while above average was not at the elite level). Or Orgeron after Burrows. Or Patterson after Boykin. ****, even Butch needed Dorsey to make all that talent win big.
Nfl and college have basically become a qb game.. If you have elite qb they can cover up sooooooo much bs, its really incredible to see

The
Play calling has been noticeably different. I don’t know if it’s just a product of who is playing QB or if another coach has been given more influence.
Yes more motion, countertrey in run game, better execution on restraint plays and blocking on bubble screens, etc.. Its really interesting to see, I wish we had talented and knowledgeable media to ask certain questions to lashlee, but most likely going to ask about his feelings and what he did for Halloween with his family

I don’t buy this notion that Likens is all of the sudden calling plays now...

He’s been an OC at a P5 just two times in his career & in both instances he got fired after one season because both David Beaty & Herm Edwards were displeased with his play calling.

He’s a very good WR’s coach, but his history as an OC has not been pretty to say the least.

If he builds year over year he's going to be very very good.

Hope he doesn't hit the wall that Kaaya did and never really got better after his 2nd year. Totally different player with better tools than Kaaya, though.
If I remember correctly Kayaa had a different coordinator all three years he played. That hurt his progress.

I personally think TVD is already better than Kaaya. Processes faster, throws the ball just as well maybe even slightly better, and has better balance and pocket awareness.

He also doesn’t seem emotionally fragile which was an issue with Kaaya and has been a problem with all our recent QBs save King. He’ll take to coaching and improve over time.

p.s.I will forever be a fan of Kaaya after his game against FSU. The fact I think TVD is a more complete QBdoesnt take away from Brad’s contributions.

I have to rewatch the last few games but it seems we don't run as much RPO anymore?
We absolutely don't. We ran it maybe 4 times against Pitt and the pass was there every single time. Don't know why that's not our bread and butter.

Asslee, if you're reading this: flip your play calling! Every time you get the urge to call the bubble screen go for the RPO and then vice versa. One works much better than the other!!

Coley, Coley, and then Richt. Only had 2 that were conceptually the same.

The only progress he made under richt was game manager type stuff. Under Coley he had the typical freshman to sophomore jump but nothing crazy. Not like we all thought anyway

Who was the last quarterback we saw make an NFL throw on 3rd and long from 8 yards deep in his own end zone? TVD has a pair.
The TV crew screwed up the viewing of that play. That was a ho hum throw eight yards deep. He threw it like it was me tossing on out to my buddy when I was 12 on the street... That was an impressive toss and to see his lack of reaction to the actual play was a good sign...

Bellicheat without Brady.

A nod for finally opening up the playbook with Van Dyke. First two games he was handicapping him.
Likens may have something to do with that as has been pointed out. Likens is the passing game coordinator which is a new title for him.

At this point last year we thought Manny had taken over some of the defensive play calling from Baker. Not sure if that was the case and not sure what is happening here…but glad to see it!!

I also see (and this is no knock on King, he has other strengths Lashlee didn't gameplan for him) a guy who opens up the whole playbook because he can make every throw
