A stadium at Tropical Park is a NIGHTMARE for traffic
It’s literally the perfect place cause they already have the high school field there. Heart of Miami. But holy cow the traffic would be just insane. I don’t even want to think about it

I grew up right off Miller and the Palmetto so definitely understand how bad it gets. It's also been 15 years since I lived in Miami so can't even fathom to understand how much worse its gotten.

With that said, we're talking about 6-7 days a year where we'd have to be concerned about traffic in addition to the fact that games will primarily be on Saturdays. I could be wrong but traffic from 9am-12pm and 3pm-5pm on Saturdays is probably more manageable than a 5pm on a Friday.

not enough exit points highway wise there. I believe its just the 826. **** would be a nightmare. also there isn't anything wrong with HRS. it doesn't need to be closer or farther away. its in a good spot and the stadium is infinitely nicer than anything that would be built.

attendance isn't deterred by location. we will ALWAYS struggle with weekly attendance. people have to accept it. we will never be a traditional college environment football wise that packs it in weekly. we aren't a good college market in that aspect. what we do well is show up for big games bc we treat it like events. when it is full for those games, the stadium is plenty electric and loud

You could make that argument. Heck when Santa’s enchanted was there it was ****. And that was more days. 7 days a year ain’t bad at all and it will give the high schools a badass place to play

we’ve always played in a half empty stadium even at the OB. More people still won’t come even if the stadium was closer to campus.
Which is why the soccer team stadium may be a good deal. It has fewer seats so it will look more packed. Yeah it will be tough to get tickets for big games, but at least that gives some actual value to holding season tickets.

I dont follow the "we dont have our own stadium so we are lesser" stuff. We share a state of the art stadium with an NFL team. The location kinda sucks or maybe isn't in the most desirable (area). No disrespect to Miami Gardens.
The OB was only our stadium because the Dolphins moved. As great as it was-it wasn't on campus either. The environment at Hard Rock has been awesome at times and can be great when we field a better , more exciting team.
The School should be taking this perceived weakness and turning it into a strength because it is. Do the gators or Semenholes have a nicer stadium than us?

10 million is nice and all but that aint **** when thinking about building a stadium.
lol it cost ross like half a billion to Reno HRS himself. this camping world Columbus bro talking about 10 mil LMAO. he may wanna hit up his other Columbus bro MaS about his progress with Inter Miamis stadium. **** will never get built. they're just the FTL strikers reincarnated but wont accept it

the location is actually perfect. OB was a ***** and a half to get to (traffic sucked and even w the metro from campus, they'd bus you over at the station). HRS is farther from campus, but MOST of the fans aren't coming from campus. they're coming from all over the tri county area. HRS is situated in a middle ground location with access to basically three major highways in a short distance. people are stupid. no one was hanging out by the OB either. it wasn't wriggly Ville or the battery in Atlanta. it was a stadium in a middle of a **** area too. at least, its not bottlenecked by HRS to get in and out in terms of highway access

Yeah I’m not a fan of how we market our home field

I know it’s not popular. But I still like the idea of doing joint stadium at that golf course with the soccer team.
its never getting built. no stadium will be there. there's a reason they just went with the Reno in FTL and put their training stuff there. they know deep down its never happening in miami. ross couldn't even get the county to pay for renovations to HRS

I always thought they could build it where the high school field is just with a bigger footprint, no?
you'd be tearing it all down basically to make room for parking, the actual stadium and other stuff.

along with that, the school crowd funded an IPF that took a while to get fully funded and that's pennies in terms of costs. the county isn't paying for ****.

Fully understand the cost is the biggest issue I just thought they had the footprint at the park to do it

its not a great traffic location anymore imo. also don't really want to be sharing the stadium w a bunch of HSs on a friday night and see our field torn up on Saturday. the benefit of playing before the fins now is that we get the fresh sod and world class stadium people to replace the sod

I meant location being ****** because its not one of the more desirable places in Miami. I know Little havana wasn't either but at least its right next to downtown Miami. The view out of the OB was the miami skyline and the view out of Hard rock is the new Walmart. I know logistically it is easier to get to for most.
Everyone tries to dig at us because most of our fans aren't alumni (which is true), so having an on campus stadium shouldn't really mean **** to us, we are coming from all over the state.

Lol we all know unless it’s a big game the attendance is what it is…

I really just don’t get the fascination about having our own stadium. It’s not like we play in a dump.
Exactly. I went to every home game from '90-94 while at UM and multiple home games/year in '95 and '96 while I still lived in Miami. Other than the "big" games there were always a lot of empty seats in the OB.

they were giving kids free tickets for some games in 01. we will never solve the attendance issue in miami without rouding the entire pop up and dumping elsewhere and replacing them with diehard sports fans. it isn't a good sports market with too many transplants. on top of that, miami (the school) deals with fans and grads of other schools who come back or relocate to SFL following graduation

It's $1M a year for like the next 10 years. If we had a stadium built it probably not going to be done until at least 2025 at the earliest. 5-6 years for $1M a year even if you had to buyout 100% of that agreement is just pennies to the entire project they would be diving into.
if those numbers are correct, then the buyout is de minimis.
