The Hurricanes fans have another reason to feel good about Miami's new quarterback Darian Mensah. If you haven't, go ahead and hop on the train.
On3's Andy Staples places Darian Mensah atop his Atlantic Coast Conference quarterback rankings, ahead of Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and Kevin Jennings.
He is one of the most complete players in all of college football. He can do it on the run while also tearing your defense up through the passing game. His best college game came from this past season when the Duke Blue Devils took on the Clemson Tigers--he threw over 300 yards and four touchdown passes.
Mensah brings his top receiver from Duke in Cooper Barkate, who is expecting to have a breakout year with the Hurricanes. Miami also retained Malachi Toney, who is arguably the best player in college football.

Mensah broke out for Tulane in 2024 and helped Duke win an ACC title last year, but he’ll be surrounded by a lot more talent in Coral Gables. Malachi Toney will be the best playmaker Mensah has teamed with, and Mark Fletcher Jr. should grind out yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Mensah will have someone familiar. Cooper Barkate, who caught 72 passes for 1,106 yards at Duke in 2025 after transferring from Harvard, joined Mensah on the trip south.
