Miami is obviously heartbroken. Myson Johnson-Cook has rare physical tools and they spent a lot of time recruiting him.

But this ultimately came down to GM Dennis Smith making tough roster construction decisions.

I agree with the approach. If we stay stocked with the Jackson Cantwells of the world, we will run the ball.

Two names to watch at running back are Ty Keys (Picayune, Mississippi) and Brennan Lacey (Dallas, TX).

Assuming “GM Dennis smith” made that decision with Mario’s blessing…

Agreed but I do have trepidations about the Dennis Smith part. I was hoping given things said in the past that his influence and roll had been diminished.

You don’t think Mario is giving his input here?

Why did he tweet when he didnt have deal done? Has he not learned one of the first lessons in getting deals done?

Also this is the 2nd guy we "had" publicly locked in that we lost at last second in this class.. Where is the disconnect coming from, does Dennis not know how to read these things correctly?

Why not AJ Tillman who is a South Florida kid and actually visited Umiami (aka showing interest) compared to Brennen Lacey who visited ND and flaked on Miami?

He’s faster and Lacey doesn’t have good production

Deal was probably agreed to. Then MJC got more money and Miami didn't match.

Of course he is and thinking otherwise is foolish. That said, Smiff’s history is well documented here with many reputable posters stating he was a mess amongst other things. There was a point where there were statements made that while he still had Mario’s trust he was taking a step back in responsibilities. This post at least to me insinuated as the opposite and hence why I responded the way I did.
