LSU isn't matching Miami's # now. Their is no bluff to call. The # is already to high. It is enough of a difference. Low or not, they have a state tax on top of that. His former coach is here. They gave him all the bells and whistles. Don't expect him and start taking other players.

It’s not just that. Most likely players talk. If you’re in that DB room and know that he got $2.24M and you’re at $800K, you might seek your own raise or enter the portal yourself. Either it attrits a player from LSU or it makes their talent budget even more unwieldy by having to raise other DBs.

And if your starting defensive line are making $1M to $1.5M, they’ll want raises too if a safety is now out earning them. Again, salary escalation pressure on LSU.
