Rushing yards per game isn’t a good statistic because if you pass the ball more often than not which we did quite a bit the rushing game will rank low on yardage per game regardless of its effectiveness. Miami runs an rpo so some plays that were likely heading to a run can be switched immediately to a pass which could limit rushing attempts depending what the person they are reading in the play does.

Our oline is not all bad but on 3rd down we definitely need improvements

Idk man... It might have something to do with the fact that we ran the same run play on every 3rd down

I've told you many times, and the game tape backs it up. We passed the ball more because you MUST gain 3 to 4 yards on 1st down to keep the playbook open. Our running game was 2 yard per carry and an occasional game breaker. It could not be counted to consistently gain that 3 to 4 yards, so we ended up relying on many more short passes than CMR would probably have liked.

The fact that we were able to have a respectible average considering how many rushes for <3 yards...I am very excited for what our backs can do with quality depth behind them, and few fullbacks, TE's and more talented O-linemen in front of them.

The bubble screen will go back to more of an occasional, catch the defense cheating up to play the run, type situation. We're not going to be checking out of outside power just because a 185lb Nickel is showing inside leverage this season.

But people act like we had one of the worst OLs in Power 5. That's wrong. They were competent enough for the offense to function. If you believe the consensus, Rosier was a Group of 5 QB, the OL was garbage and Richt is past his prime calling plays. If they were really that bad, how did they combine for 10 wins, 3,000 passing yards and 31 TDs?

2 things need to happen. First the OL must improve dramatically in terms of run blocking. Secondly, whoever our QB is needs to make teams pay for selling out against the run especially on 3rd and 3 or less.

When you think about all of the weapons and speed we are accumulating at the skill positions, opposing defenses won't be able to stack the box vs the run for much longer. It's only a matter of time until one of our young QB's will be ready to take the reigns of this offense and when that does happen which I think will be much sooner than later, we are going to blow every single defense that lines up against us back to the stone age with the firepower we will have at our disposal.
