Old news by Brett McMurphy

Let me say this, I love my canes but I will agree that this has been poorly managed from a PR and organizational standpoint. I've said countless times, you had to have a plan PRIOR to sacking Blake James. It also should have been done a lot sooner than after the FSU loss. Blake was always incompetent. The move appears reactive as opposed to proactive. Turnkey should have been hired or at least on standby the moment you pulled the trigger on James. I have also said that it hurts Miami from a perception standpoint when you see how decisively other schools conduct business in comparison. They act with conviction. Lincoln loses Saturday, contract done Sunday, in Los Angeles on Monday. LSU gets rejected by Lincoln on Sunday morning, Sunday night the deal with Brian Kelly is done, Kelly is in Baton Rouge Monday night. They're organized!!! They have plan and then a backup plan and then a backup plan to the backup plan. That's how business is done.

It just appears (maybe not reality) that Miami doesn't have their ish together. Couple that with people in the program actively trying to destroy it from within by leaking false narratives like David Epstein, and it looks like a three ring circus, perception wise. That's why I say, the longer this goes on, the worse it looks. They need to pull the trigger in the next 24 hours on the AD, terminate Manny on Saturday, and all hands on deck for Mario on Sunday with your new AD on the job. Listen to Riley and Kelly talk at their press conferences, the one word they use consistently is ALIGNMENT. Prez, AD, and the head coach. The trifecta. Miami is not close to that at the moment. They and turnkey need to make a decision now!
It’s really this simple ^^^^

There’s a little truth to it but it’s being way overblown because of a couple ********. There’s politics and propaganda being pushed right in front of your face. This is bigger than naming a AD.

Whose job is it to reel in the administrators, i'm guessing Frenk? If so, not looking good for him; not that it looks good for him lately regardless.

this stuff is obviously, obviously a coordinated leak by someone(s) with an axe to grind. from there, there are two options:

1. miami has things under (relative) control and the people who matter know this isn't true. in that case, we have an AD and new head coach in a week or two and nobody remembers any of this.

2. miami doesn't have things under control and these leaks are actively impeding the search. in that case....who knows what happens.

we'll see, i guess lol

yes, but isn't part of the "business of getting things done" managing the PR? No reason to let an already smeared Miami be bashed ruthlessly without counterbalancing that with some well thought out (but unrevealing) statements that negate the sh**show or circus image being put forth.
True! To be honest tho, it don't matter what UM or those that are really in the know, say to counteract the negativity. Negative **** gets the clicks. You can't stop disgruntled rich folks, whose used to getting their way, from "leaking" whatever to whomever. Muhfuccas trying to stay relevent, will **** on the process, while secretly hoping to be included in the process. The most important thing to folks like that, is just to have a seat at the table. That way they can flout their "importance".

Ok, if only a few BOT members are interested in sports and even fewer are interested in football how 50 are involved in the search for AD? Sounds like gross exaggeration which typical of media heads.

The guy says " With 50 of trustees & several donors are involved". Sounds believable.

So you would take a job with more pay, knowing you won’t have the support to do what you need/want to do and be a puppet for people who don’t know what they are doing and have a boss that doesn’t care and is weak and won’t support you and basically be set up to fail? Ok then
You're either Nunez himself or too close to him to be taken seriously. Look, Mr. Nunez is at New Mexico and we wish him well. But this is canes business. Please stop trying to actively sabotage a program you have nothing to do with in the media. We all get disappointed when we miss out on a job we wanted but this sour grapes narrative is pitiful. Good luck in New Mexico and turn the page. Thanks.

Instead of expending energy complaining that UM should try to correct a false narrative, maybe fans should look at the source of the false narrative and think of ways to shame Epstein into crawling back into his hole.

Honestly, the BOT should figure out why Miami keeps dropping in academic rankings. IIRC, UiF rated higher and about same as FSU. Let those that know sports work that side.

This is politics 101. Perception is reality. The powers that be didn’t get out ahead of this and now the detractors are having their way in the media. They cemented the narrative and have created a circus. If the end result is anything but remarkable, it will blow up in the school’s face.

They went national

I'm seeing this reported and discussed in a lot more spaces nationally.

Whoever is leaking this information needs to be gone. This is bad for the University in general.

Miami guy. Grew up here, went to Pace and FIU. Was on local Miami radio for a good while.
He could in theory be plugged in or at least knows people who are. Either way a national pushing back a little shows there is two sides to this story.
