Old Miami Practice

wtf....

man I grew up hoopin in 100 degree weather, don't even any of you sit there and act like tennis is tougher than the violence of hood level basketball

I wonder if this guy is from the arctic or something, this just bizarre to me

Tennis is very popular in the Arctic, yes.

These last two weeks they've been playing the Australian Open in over 100F heat. Now sprint and chase a ball for 2 to 4 hours against world class competition.

I posted this on another thread but thought it deserved its own. Cool video on practices back in the day it is a deleted scene from The U. If we brought this kinda thing back we would be on probation in a week. Crazy what they used to go through!!!

He had the same mindset at FAU. The Trainers hated him LMAO

This is funny, all you guys wanting extra water breaks and this and that are gonna be the first ones *****ing when Miami isn’t playing tough enough for your liking.

lmao "The left has taken over" The things people complain about. lmao
Do you like the way Football is being modified????
Answer that...
You can’t practice in NFL in pads
You can’t touch the QB
You can’t tackle anywhere
You have to come out of game if helmet comes off
You have to get checked every minute for concussion
It’s run by a gd lib lawyer named goodell
So if you like where football is AND is headed, great, we might as well call it soccer

ALL of this is driven from liberals wanting to over regulate the game of football.

That is a fact, if you are to stupid to see it or refuse to acknowledge where this regulation comes
From, I’m sorry I can’t help you

Athletes can overhydrate. Excess water can lead to lower sodium levels in the body, which may further lead to nausea, vomiting, cramps, fatigue, et al. ... When you drink too much water, your electrolyte levels drop and the balance is compromised. Low electrolyte levels can cause symptoms like muscle spasms and cramping.
Could be. As an aside, we use Clemson's protocol. Whatever they're doing with their guys, we do with ours. Seems.to help our guys a lot. We rarely have issues but they do occur. We see more cramps from other teams first month of the season especially if they're experiencing a beat down. Lol

True. And if you’re chugging water it’s too late. Players need come to practice properly hydrated.

What’s next? Wannabe tough guys telling us players don’t need to eat?

If you've passed out on the field and are going into convulsions, you just need to toughen up.

Agree. 1 gallon from breakfast to practice time in August and early September. We do study hall first. So 1 gallon in 10 hours is our goal. A lot, but not chugging.

It's really not that much if:

1) You keep your metabolism up, and
2) You're used to drinking a lot of water.

The human body is funny. If you start to really give it what it needs, it starts to get rid of what it doesn't, in the expectation that it will just be replenished. I was never, by any means, on the level of a college athlete, but when I was training extensively, I'd regularly hit 1.5-2 gallons of water daily, and that was not in SFL heat.

As many others have said, the bigger issue is the loss of nutrients, specifically salt.

The whole water thing is retarded which is why it’s not used today. Not only do you harm the players, it negatively impacts muscle growth

It's not about building muscle, it's about building toughness.

There's a reason why the army has bootcamp, and the navy seals have their "**** week." It's not about getting you in to shape physically, it's about toughening you up mentally.

I'm not saying we shouldn't hydrate our players. We should. But I'm a huge believer in the fact that Jimmy and Howard's practices were so tough, they gave our teams back in the day a mental edge.

Our teams of the past 20 years have been soft. Not just physically, but mentally soft. We need to instill more toughness on the practice field, some kind of way.
