The admin sucks but they're not the ones who can't manage a ****ing a football game. A competent coaching staff takes this year's roster to the ACCCG and probably wins. Now imagine if that same coaching staff evaluated talent somewhat successfully so the team isn't littered with bricklaying scrubs that provide no depth of talent.
Miami has unique competitive advantages that should enable the football program to succeed even without funding and facilities that are comparable to the elite. Instead we hear a bunch of "cloud" BS, excuses, rationalizations and spin-doctoring.
Sure, better funding should theoretically lead to a better coaching staff, but I'm not buying that excuse one bit. Every year there are good coaches hired away from the MAC (Jerry Kill, Butch Jones, Brian Kelly, etc.) yet we wound up with the Fat Al sideshow. Perhaps if the admin/AD evaluated prospective candidates based on their coaching acumen rather than their morals, values, speaking ability and dedication to the pillars of success, we would have a winning program. We don't need an expensive proven Power 5 or NFL coach, we just need a guy with some FBS HC experience who can work with some talent without installing a rigid stubborn plan.
This board makes it seem like Butch Davis is some savior but the reality is he's just one of many competent coaches who could step into Miami and not **** things up. Contrary to Fat Al's BS PR mindgames there is no extreme rebuilding "process". We're right on the cusp of being a competitive football program, we just need the right staff to put the polish on recruiting, personnel usage and schematic gameplanning/playcalling. This isn't rocket science, it's just football.
