@DMoney in the March 18, 2026 Bank.

Mark Matthews (STA) and Sean Tatum (Fort Pierce) remain extremely high priorities and the Canes are pushing hard. I like Miami for both at this stage. One name to add to the board: 6'6, 310-pound Tyler Ford (Gainesville, GA).

More on Neff Giwa, the 6-7, 295-pound Nigerian-Irish OT prospect:

He’s the hottest football recruit in the nation — and he’s never played in a game

Two words: Yes and Please.

“He’s so tall, but he actually had good leverage,” said Brandon Collier, a former UMass and CFL defensive tackle who identifies European prospects for College Football. “He’s also got this toughness about him. He’s like a fighter. He’s got something inside him that I haven’t seen from many kids. Some of the linemen, they’re very athletic, but they played sports that were softer. He played rugby. He was physical as heck.”

And that physicality is often the biggest question mark for European athletes who are transitioning to American football.

“I think it comes from growing up with two older brothers and playing WWE in the living room,” Giwa said. “They were bigger than you, but you had that grit, where you wanted to pin them down, and playing rugby and trying to get that edge over other players who might be bigger and wider than you. It’s either you hit or you get hit.”

LOL. As someone who took plenty of punishment from my two older brothers, that **** will toughen you up for real

Pretty convinced Mario and Mirabal's dream is to take the field with the first offensive line in history to average 6-9, 400

2026 feels like 2022 all over again. Back then, we ended up slow playing Monroe Freeling because of a preference for Olaus Alinen who ultimately went to ‘Bama.

For the class of 2023, we were pursuing four blue chip OL: SiSi, Samson, Freeling, and Olaus; were in all of their respective top 3 schools.

In the class of 2027, there are four who fit the bill: Mark Matthews, Oluwasemilore Olubobola, Joshua Sam-Epelle, and Caden Moss. Unlike last go-around, Caden Moss appears to be somewhat less interested than the other 3 who have us definitively in their top two programs.

MM = SiSi. Pancake = Olu Olu. JSM = Freeling.

Sean Tatum would be this class’ Tommy Kinsler. Jatori Williams fills the prestige/potential of what could have been Connor Lew at the U. Zaquan Linton is the high-upside developmental local talent like Frankie Tinilau. Reis Russell would be loosely comparable to the OOS IOL commit we had Antonio Tripp Jr.

Odds are we don’t take more than six. I hope Nico Ramos from American Heritage finds a way into the class, because he seems like he is on an upwards trajectory.

Before Lew flipped, we were prepared to take six OLinemen. We definitely wanted that third premium tackle in Freeling or Olaus; so coulda taken seven? History shows the appetite is there.

Before they, Mario and Mirabal, came to Miami, Oregon was prepared to take 6 Olinemen in their 2022 class: Wooten was committed and stayed committed, Luli decommitted post staff change yet recommitted to Oregon, Conerly Jr was about to commit and eventually did commit. That’s three.

Cameron Williams flipped to Texas. Kelvin Banks Jr flipped to Texas — no surprise their OLine crashed out without the benefit of snagging two NFL draftees because of carousel chaos. Percy Lewis, the top JUCO player in the country, flipped to Miss State then played against Miami with Ole Miss this past playoffs. So that would have been six offensive linemen.

Sidebar, the 8th and 9th picks in the 2025 draft were both Oregon commits before Mario left; and the 29th pick was about to signup too.

+ The offensive line group is terrific. Local five-star Mark Matthews is one of the weekend headliners and I continue to like the Hurricanes’ position. Miami has poured a lot into the recruitment of another massive offensive tackle Joshua Sam-Epelle and is emerging as the one to beat there. Two other weekend visitors who are keen on Miami are Gus Corsair and Conner Rutherford out of Ohio.
