Had to cover some fights last night(the ones on HBO) and I watched the Savannah St scrimmage this morning. And well, this wasn't even a scrimmage or sparring session but really hitting on a heavy bag(as I've said in the past about games of this nature) so everything stated has to be a bit muted - after all, its Sav St.

- Lot has been said about the QB situation, not sure what I can add except that I hope Richt continues to work the younger ones into the rotation and get them some meaningful snaps. But here's the reality - none of these guys are perfect or polished enough to be a sure thing at this moment. Perry throws a nice ball and seems to throw it on time(something Rosier struggles with) but again, it was Sav St. He needs much more seasoning and reps.

Weldon looks like a wild-card, guy has a lot of moxie and looks like a tough, hard-nosed athlete(got away with a bad throw early that should've been a pick) and Jarren Williams certainly looked good in limited time( many believe he has the highest ceiling)

Toledo will be interesting since it's a road game. Im very curious to see how Perry' reacts in this environment.

I'll say it again, whoever starts vs UNC on Sept 27th, will go into the FSU game as the starter. So the next two weeks will be interesting.

- I really enjoyed the commentary of former FSU Nole 'big' Forest Conely, and he said something that was very obvious and alarming : the UM Oline doesn't get a great thrust off the ball and not nearly as physical as they need to be. It was an indictment of Stacy Searles in many respects. Flat out, early on I didn't see much push or clear running lanes as they ran the ball - and this was vs Sav St. As DMoney mentioned, Gaynor seemed to give this unit some much needed nastiness as he got in the game. Honestly, not a big fan of Jones and Mahoney and what's really needed are some of the recruits from the past two classes to really make that jump where they are factors.

- Again it's Sav St. but it's clear that this freshman class can be special. I want to see more of these guys get larger roles as the season goes on. Bottom line you can just see their athleticism and twitch and they immediately upgraded this teams overall speed right off the bat. The future is now, get some of these upperclassmen into smaller roles and start breaking in the new guys I say. In this day and age, fewer quality players are staying 4/5 years, you might as well get them going as soon as possible.

- Really, that's all I have, I mean it was Sav St

Feel like we need to get mark pope involved in the coming games, he can be a weapon for us this year

Do you trust Scaife at tackle so early?
He might do well there, plays good on the edge and has really long arms and pretty good technique. Blocked some of the elite edge rushers very well in the country at the opening too. I think He can be an isaih Wynn and our for Miami that uga recently had and was recruited by coach richt

pope just looks a little thin but man if he is what we think he is. other teams will have a huge problem.

Jones and mahoney at best should be back ups. I have no idea whats going on with herbet but this kid was highly regarded. needs to step up.

The staff was surprised how well he played there at practice , which shouldn’t be shocking imo. He was mauling kids at the all star game practices and in the game.

He can literally play all five spots and well. Kid is special.
Had he been 6’5 or so he would have been a top 50 player in the country. Imo he’s that good reguardless

It would be great if he took the next step(Herbert) at right tackle and Donaldson could take over one of the guard spots this year since both jones and Mahoney look bad

Donaldson played big minutes as a freshman. St. Louis played extensively as a freshman at RT. No reason Scaife cannot play there this year.

I do the kid just produces whenever hes on the field and he has the same nastiness that gaynor has, also that move would sure up the guard play

gotcha, Im at that point, go with the younger more talented guys and manage their mistakes. I know what I have in some of these upperclassmen upfront(and it's not good enough)

I never understood Jones and Mahoney at both guard spots.

Also wanted to note - again, Jeffrey 'the Jet' Thomas is special. If you ever get him a decent QB and he can be Santana Moss part two. Richt needs to be as creative as can be in getting him the ball if he's going to stick with a scatter arm QB.

Savannah State is dropping to DII next year. UM needs to end the scheduling schools like Savannah State, BCC and FAMU. They add no value to the players or the game day revenue.
This game was scheduled back when Golden was coaching and when everyone wanted to kill Blake James.
