Ok Richt got me with his ‘coach speak’...

What’s Richt really planning with this QB situation?

If Perry isn't injured Malweak should hear it every time he frolics his weak *** on the field.

There’s a difference between what anybody thinks should happen, versus what is most likely to happen.

If Malik starts, which I wouldn’t bet on, he’ll get booed on his first bad play. That’s how it usually works.

Watch from @4:35 to 7:50

To me it just illustrates that a team that is a multiple time Conference champion & former National champion is making that decision even with NC St, BC, South Carolina & FSU still on their schedule. They actually have a lot to lose as a Playoff contender if it goes wrong, but they still are willing to risk it.

I could see it go one of two ways.

1. Same as last week. Start Malik for a series or two while we see how our defense handles their O, and if we’re suffocating UNC the way we were FIU, bring in Perry to see if his performance last week can carry over to the elevated level of competition of conference play. Said it since the beginning of the season that our defense controls how much time the backups get to play. If UNC is unable to move the ball on us, the risk of Perry making a few freshman mistakes is mitigated and survivable.

2. That’s pretty much what we did last week vs. FIU. As the Head Coach, what was the intended purpose of what you did last week in being predetermined to trot Perry out even if Rosier was playing decent? My gut said he still had questions about Perry’s ability to function at a high level when the bullets start flying. Did he get answers to those questions? If so, I think you kind of have to start Perry. You keep your relief pitcher throwing in the bullpen, just in case, but roll with the hot hand until he gives you a reason to make the switch.

I said at the beginning of the season that ideally, one of the backups would separate themselves from the group and would have the opportunity to play significant minutes in the games leading up to conference play, and that this game against UNC would determine who the starter is moving forward. I still stand by that. It doesn’t matter who starts the game. By the end of the game, the question will be put to bed for this season.

Our Luck....Malika will start....throw a wobbly 40yd TD pass, only caught by a Miraculous catch by JT.....And the mindset/Richts will become....See!!...
