Oh really, UCF?

Manny got played if UCF didn't pay Twill's full buyout. Which should have been at least 70% of his UM contract total. UCF is writing buyout checks to everyone else, but I have feeling UM'S check for Twill's buyout was pennies on the dollar.

Go Canes
Blake not Manny on the buyout issue.

I’m pretty sure there’s no buyouts for assistants leaving. Particularly for a bump in title. Our fans don’t know enough about the sport they watch. Assistants are usually on short deals. Why would you get no job security and be restricted by a buyout?
It doesn’t surprise me and it makes sense actually. Just addressing the post that if a buyout was paid then Manny is to blame when that responsibility- if an issue - would fall on Blake not Manny.

Shhhhhhh... making sense is not allowed here... lol

Are we talking buyouts on a guy that was maybe paid around $10 -20,000 grand total? If that.

On someone who quite possibly forfeited every penny made except for two weeks salary?

TWill should head back to The U immediately. Bro you ain't gonna have the relationship with Malzan like this dude. Loved seeing a Bro get a Coordinator job, but your resume will have an asterisk just like Eric Biennemy. We know who does the hiring and when Malzan gets another job or flat out fail again, TWill will fall back to being a LB coach.

Not sure why some of you are complaining about Manny's decision to let him leave. Manny had two choices if he wanted to keep T-Will:

(1) Pay him > $600K to be a LB coach; or
(2) Pay him > $600K and promote him to DC or Co-DC after just two weeks on the job.

Both options are dumb. Option 1 makes T-Will the highest (or Top 2) paid LB coach in CFB. He hasn't shown me anything to warrant such a salary. Option 2 is weak sauce letting a position coach leverage you into a raise and promotion without knowing where the bathrooms are inside Hecht.

Manny made the right call...let him leave.

With that said, we should judge Manny by the next move he makes to replace the open spot. That is 100% fair game and worthy of scrutiny.

Lol. Just made this move go from honorable to disrespectful. Manny look like a hoe now. Gus playing spades and telling his hand to his partner and they running a BOSTON. Gotta respect the grit there. Manny learning as he go still smh. He gotta drop them nuts on the table sooner or later. Experienced HCs taking his lunch out here.
Man get a life...

I bet he did. This was a survival move by T-Will in my opinion. They just wrapped it so Manny wouldn’t put up a fight. Manny is a nice guy(nothing wrong with that if you run a halfway house). It does not feel good to out of a job. And T-will just extended himself probably 4-5 years making more money than possibly 2-3 here.

If Williams is such a great coach he wouldn’t have to worry about job security

Teams can have a DC and a Co-DC at the same time. Bama lists Pete Golding as DC and Charles Kelly as Associate DC. Ohio State lists Kerry Crooms as DC and Greg Mattison as Co-DC.

T-Will left for a promotion, more money, and to work for the HC he’s been attached to for the past many years. Had Gus been hired at UCF a few weeks earlier we may never have hired T-Will in the first place.

It’s a lose lose scenario for him though other than the pay raise. If he sucks, the trigger would be quick since his replacement is there. If he does well, a valid question would be is it all him or his co d coordinator
Very well said and underrated posted. If you've got more than one person doing the same job, then you have no one doing the job.

You want clarity -- If I do well in my job, that was me. If I don't do well, that was me as well.

TWill got hood winked. That other coach is there as Co-DC because Gus trusts him to actually do the job. TWill will be recruiting and will have a hands on role with a position group or two. The other guy will be the true DC.

UCF writers are saying hes the play caller. either way, dude is making more money and got a title bump. good for him. we gotta move on. shouldn't have a 10000 page thread for a dude who was here a single pay period.

now who did end up losing a guy to a less than lateral move is the Kstate strength coach. hes leaving for UCF in the same role
