Oh really, UCF?

So you think Diaz should have countered UCFs 600k to be their co-DC by making Williams the highest paid LB coach in the country a couple weeks after he arrived. Now THAT would really be a ***** move, which is why it doesn't surprise me that so many porsters here are in favor of it.
600 would’ve had him as tied for second highest LB coach in 2020... for reference he was getting 450 at Auburn and top 10 for LB coach salary in NCAA according to footballscoop

if u go look at what they have for 2019 600 would have him at the 4th highest that year.

I don’t think matching at 600 would’ve kept him. But I also don’t think it would’ve been a ***** move. He would’ve gone from number 10 highest paid to number 3 highest paid in a year he switched jobs which is typically when people get substantial pay bumps

How does that make Manny look bad? If anything it makes Williams look bad.
So I guess Twill should have told the LB group to write on the board who will be the first coach out of here as soon as someone calls with more money and a bit better situation. Well, personally I hope he balls out and comes back to the U as a DC.

After Bob Shoop I hope.

No sir. Didn’t say that. But publicly endorsing the move like a supportive HC just got ****ted on. Clearly the move was always to be a co-DC but it was spun as DC which we all can understand, but not this. Unless T-Will is going to call plays this was just a money and comfort move, if not a downgrade. T-will could have wrote is on way to a P5 DC or Co-DC after a year or 2 here.

Tell me this, how is taking the same position, but now in a lower level do for his career? If he’s not the play caller we got used. And Manny let Gus snatch his turnover chain. Point blank.

Because Manny couldn’t see he was getting played by Gus and T-will. He was never going to be the sole DC. Everything has moved too fast. Manny got played. Like I said, Manny looks bad because he is getting schooled, once again, by more experienced coaches. I love the guy, but he’s going to have to make his mind up quick and stand his ground. Or we will never get to big time status with him at the helm.

I bet TWill did not know of this hired before Hand, if he did the decision seems odd, as he would have had a Full DC job after a good year here.
I bet he did. This was a survival move by T-Will in my opinion. They just wrapped it so Manny wouldn’t put up a fight. Manny is a nice guy(nothing wrong with that if you run a halfway house). It does not feel good to out of a job. And T-will just extended himself probably 4-5 years making more money than possibly 2-3 here.

He essentially brought in a grey beard who TWill has a relationship with to help him as a first time DC. How is this getting used or chain snatched or any of these silly *** things that people are saying?

UCF is reporting this below.
Gibbs will provide a great amount of defensive coaching experience having coached 25 years in college football and the NFL. While Williams is expected to call plays for the defense, Gibbs will help train the young up-and-coming coach, a team source explained. Williams previously served under Malzahn at Auburn as the linebackers coach.

It's pretty obvious what the situation is here. Y'all think that TWill and Gus didn't have a plan for what would be happening here and he got blindsinded with this? He literally played for Gibbs at Auburn. He might've even played a role in bringing him on board for that guidance. Our fans lack of understanding of CFB as a business is pretty crazy for people who follow the sport so closely, but I guess most typically just follow Miami and it shows.

But how would he know any of this?

1. Dude comes to him and says I've got a $600k DC offer from UCF.
2. Manny says he's sorry to see him go and wishes him the best.
3. Dude leaves.
4. UCF hires a co-DC with more experience.

What else could Manny or anyone else do? How do you consider that played?

My caveat to all my statements were, if he calls plays. If that’s the case then ok. But why not make it public that there would be a co-operation at DC once T-Will was announced. Because it left Ole Manolo in the dark. I’m only here commenting on the, “this is a great opportunity, you should take it.”, that was said by T-will in support of him leaving. That part makes Manny look naive. That’s my point.

If 1 and 4 were known by Manny, I guarantee you he would have put up a fight to keep him. Not say match the $600k, but come up with something to make him think about it. Nothing was done because Manny saw that being a DC was his dream. But the optics on this, to me, make Manny look like he was duped. And I don’t like that for me team. Manny represents my canes, so I’m always wanting to be in the best light. And at first he was, being supportive. But now it looks different.

It would be ridiculous to give a guy a 6 figure raise after 2 weeks. How would Manny know UCF was going to hire another person to be co-DC?

It's a great opportunity to become the DC at the top G5 over the last decade. How is Manny in the dark at all here? I'm guessing he was aware of all the details -- it's still a great opportunity. The dude will be calling plays and progressing his career.

All manny has to do is go get a lb coach better than t will

manny is nick saban in the offeasson, he’s won back to back national championships
