Good for him, based on the wins and losses it's an incredible turnaround thus far and everyone should acknowledge that no matter how terrible we looked in some of the wins vs. lesser competition, last year's team would be 4-4 right now at best. We still need to win at least 2/3 remaining games for me to declare this season a full-blown success, as a loss to both Wake and UNC would derail all positive momentum and leave (at least myself) a bit dejected and highly concerned about 2021 (GT would be a very bad loss, don't even want to think about that).

The real story will be next season, especially if King leaves. If he makes the necessary staff changes (should be interesting given the obvious ones are on the defensive side of the ball this time around) and we continue to win 9-10 games + shore up some recruiting holes, then all the doubters will take a back seat.

Now if without King, he puts us in a state of purgatory (say a 7-5 record), then that's when CIS will become a Civil War. You'll have the sluprers with excuses, and you'll have the mopes wanting off with his head (which isn't happening unless we went like 4-8/3-9). Which leads us into Year 4....

Now I'm just rambling, but for the sake of the present moment, he should be meeting all our post-2019 expectations (7-1 record, top 10 recruiting class despite losing some atrocious games last season), improved offseason hires, etc.)

He’s also bringing in a higher level of talent

Without the vid you can make the logical argument we would currently be undefeated.

Prove me wrong.

Look, I’m still not sold on Manny, got a lot to prove to me, but he’s moved the needle for me from being pegged all the way to the left on red, to still being in the red, but it’s just not pegged all the way over.

No question he’s improved over last year, and he’s filled the holes that needed to be filled.

Make no mistake though, he is going to be severely challenged next year.

That’s it right there. I’ve been making that argument all season. Yes we’re 7-1, but without King we aren’t even close to that. Nobody is dismissing the fact that Manny brought him in. Some of us just want to see growth in other areas, like discipline, slow starts, etc. We have to make sure we aren’t reliant on King, so when he’s gone we arent back to 7-5.

Anyone who tries to tell you King isn't the main difference between this year and last is blowing smoke up your cagootz. Great on Mabo for bringing him in, but if King doesn't come back next year, then he better have an answer, or it's right back to shytville.

So, of course, Mabo gets credit for bringing in King and B Lashes, but this needs to be growth and sustainable, not just one good year with a transcendent QB.

That’s why you bring in a guy like King. All the other players see him and how he prepares and the effort he puts in and other guys fall in line behind that. That’s how you change the culture in the locker room from one that is indifferent (as we were last year) to a team that doesn’t give up easily (as shown by games we should have lost this year and last years team definitely would have given up in)

Ok that still doesn’t prove or disprove my point. He’s the main reason we’ve won this year. We’re still waiting to see what happens after he is gone.

Unfortunately that isn’t the consensus on this board. It’s either burn (enter any head coach here) at the stake, or give them a lifetime contract and a statue. It’s frowned upon to be in wait and see mode and not be fooled by one year outliers, see Richt.

I see nothing that should get any fan too up or too down. Its great he is on the Watch list and all but lets not act like he is a finalist for the **** thing either. Both sides of this argument can be right here.

That said, Manny seems to be smart enough to know that this is a one night stand with DKing and he has to get up and go home soon back to reality. I wouldnt be shocked if he had a grad transfer QB board already up and ready. I am sure that is why he hasnt gone hard after any QB recruits either. We will see soon.
