Offseason Chat: What could make Hard Rock Stadium Better?

Winning will fill the seats as it’s always done. That is where the energy lies.

There are positives to JRSHR. Access for PB County and Broward fans is easier than the OB was. Not that I didn’t love the OB.
Getting out after the game is a lot easier than some stadiums. I went to a 7pm Clemson game once and it took 4 hours to get out of the parking lot and on the highway.

Ease of egress is amazing. I’m usually on northbound turnpike within 15 minutes of game ending.

Firing Uptown Dale into the sun.
What did Mr Gribble ever do to you?

I graduated in 2010, we could fill a full student section every game my 4 years, and would fill the upper deck too for big games. My first two years at school we were still in the OB. Student attendance has been downhill ever since from what I see.
I graduated in 2000. A full student section meant nothing as far as overall attendance. Even our 2001 team wasn’t selling out the Temple game. That was in the OB.

Regardless of where the games are, what truly matters are the opponent and the stakes. HRS was insane against Notre Dame in 2017 because of them being the #2 team, our history and the fact that we were undefeated late into the season.

WE DIDN’T HAVE TO PUT TOGETHER A F@CKING WISH LIST WHEN WE HAD OUR OWN HOUSE AT THE OB….AND EVERY TEAM OP LISTED DOSN’T RENT THEIR STADIUM ON SATURDAYS FROM AN NFL TEAM…

Firing the DJ and getting rid of the awkward cancer stories would be a start.
I've told Mario I've told echavaria in several other individuals that matter in the equation that DJ needs to be fired first thing smoking that lame *** *** black dude in his cardigan needs to be fired Joe zagacki and his bum *** Don Bailey needs to be fired and then lastly the stadium should be tore down. That's only thing that would make hard rock stadium a better tailgating experience If it just wasn't there. It is a horrible experience for game days and almost all equations. The fans just want to be there to be seen on the jumbotron to get drunk they don't give a s*** about football it's embarrassing honestly. But anyone that thinks tailgating is ever going to be good in Miami is pretty **** delusional. It's a basic experience for a reasons outside of that stadium. If we're going to be compared to college towns anywhere in the country if it's a college town the game day experience the tailgating etc is a billion times better than ours. We can have things pretty rowdy for a bigger games and things like that but the stadium being fired up or full or any of that isn't the same thing as before and after

It starts with filling the place in my opinion. Find ways for folks to get in and out more easily (More Uber options, etc). Super discounted seats for high-schools and youth leagues. Close out the upper deck if attendance is expected to be low. Much more creative thinking on pricing and packaging. I’ve been just a few times, but I recall the best seats (Gold Club?) are oversized, luxury, bright colored, expensive and, therefore, often empty—it’s a lose/lose (and a bad look). Maybe there’s a way to offer standby options for those seats until the ticket holders show, stay if they don’t. They should never go unoccupied. Lower deck seats in general should be thought of like first class seats on an airplane—never empty, and if unused, an upgrade or benefit to the customer you care most about.

Miami is nothing like other college towns across the country. Never has been and never will be. CFB is the only game in town at other college towns. I remember going to the iconic OB (may she RIP) in the 70’s and there would only be 10K +- fans in the stands. Big games would be close to sell outs but never any consistency. Even during our “glory” years in the OB, attendance fluctuated depending on our opponents.

Factor in the huge demographic change in SFL and there are even less football fans in the area. Not to mention the NFL, NBA, and the NHL. A Jerry’s World could be built down there and it might attract more people for the same reasons The Rock does - to be seen and get drunk.

Step one:

Get people to actually show up. Attendance has been better recently and this town will generally support a winner.

Step two:

Somehow convince Miami fans who are actually at the stadium to get to their seats before the second quarter of the game. The team runs through the tunnel before kickoff and there’s 25,000 people there to witness it. A lot of this has to do with tailgating. You can’t just tell people to stop tailgating and actually enter the stadium.

Everything else means nothing. Most college stadiums are dumps. The entertainment consists of the marching band playing the same three songs over and over. The students are more involved but that’s because giant public universities have tons of undergrads enrolled. Miami is mostly rich kids from the northeast who don’t have ties to the area outside of it being a nice place to go to college.

No it won't. It will get some more people to come but we've always struggled with attendance when it's not a BIG Game.

I mean look at our 2001 NC team at the OB against Temple. There was like 25,000 people there. We had the West Endzone packed as always but the rest of the stadium looked empty.
