That's probably the most unethical thing an old coach could do (flipping recruits to their new school), along with taking most of the coaching staff with him... With that said, Golden can have all the Doritos he can eat.

Golden is so Northeastern. It's a darn shame that he tried to make fast and aggressive South Florida athletes into read-and-react Big 10 cyborgs... Take that mess up north, man.

Please be Kehoe please be Kehoe please be Kehoe

The most consistent area of our team this year was OL and the best recruiting haul this year is OL and mainly because of him…yet you want him gone?

and as proven before, unlike Mario the traitor…He Loves the U and will go nowhere else if given the opportunity to stay

His unit gets humiliated and destroyed every time they play a good defensive front.

Under Butch, his unit was very cohesive and rarely substituted. And if they did, it was a position they were locked into. Under Corch Gorldnen, the unit substituted all over the place at multiple positions on the same drives. I thought that philosophy was very flawed for numerous reasons. Overall, without Duke, they were average. With running backs like Crawford and Gus, who seemingly seek out linemen and linebackers to run into and fall down, it was hard to gauge. Add in a QB with zero feel for the game like Morris and all bets are off. I bet an upgrade at QB and with Duke, the O-line would look and play a lot better all of a suddenly out of da woodwerks.

I agree. Art mentioned a couple times that he never coached line this way, but it was how Al wanted it. Al hired him back at THE U and Art was not about to cause any trouble for him. Art, Brown, and Coley are the coaches I want to stay. Al needs to take his BFF and can take whoever else he wants. I don't think he is taking Coley--PSU has never been big in SO Fl recruiting and if Al goes, I doubt he will change that. He will rape the NE very well for PSU and maybe dip into MD and VA, but not down here. Coley is too good recruiter for next coach to cut unless a complete disconnect on O style. Art, Brown and probably Barrow are safe for any outsider coming in. If a Cane then might be a little more freedom to cut one of them. If Al takes Williams, then Brown can move to DB coach and we can get real RB coach.

I agree that if Al does take the job we are gonna be VERY dissappointed with the list of candidates. There will be no Bobby Petrino, No Butch, No Chud, and No Schiano on that list. Donna doesnt have the guts to make a big splash hire like that and resurrect this program. It will be a pool of lower tier BCS coaches (like Al was. A guy trying to make a name for himself at a big school. For instance, a "Curtis Johnson or Mark Stoops" type)

Or it will be some hotshot coordinator like Chad Morris who wants to cut his teeth at a big program. Lets not get ourselves worked up AGAIN only to be let down. We did the same thing when Coker was fired and when Shannon was fired. Only to be let down both times with coaches that were less then desirable hires.

You're right. Donna doesn't have any guts. She only took a giant public **** down the ncaa's throat, which is something no other university leader had ever done before her. You guys love puppeting the same tired ****.

Well I guess we will see who is right after we hire a new coach

They got it right with hiring a basketball coach.

There seem to be a lot of similarities to this. Although many thought Haith was culpable for some infractions, most looked at this as addition by subtraction, because he wasn't a very good gameday coach.
Coach L quickly showed what a real BBall coach could do with limited talent. I'm hoping they make another hire like that.
Cutcliffe would be a similar type hire, but CFB is more dependent on recruiting and I don't know how he rates in that area. Still, an outstanding coach almost recruits itself.

If I'm Golden and I have the opportunity to go to PSU, I'd take it. If he stays at UM, he is under tremendous pressure to make staff changes, including dumping his buddy, and has to deliver next season. He gets at least a three-year reboot at PSU.

Actually, O'Brien set the bar pretty high. Didn't PSU win 7 games this year while under the heaviest of NCAA sanctions? PSU fans think they can keep winning regardless of what the NCAA has done. That team is teetering and could easily go 4-8 or worse. If so, they are going to put the blame on the Coach.

I think PSU is looking at a decade of irrelevance. The NCAA sanctions haven't really kicked in yet. It always takes a few years before you really feel it. Look at what happened with us inthe 90s. Our worst seasons happened at the end or after the NCAA penealties were completed. USC is going through the same now, too. Orgeron was able to save their season, but they were on the verge of a 4 win season.

If I were Golden, I keep on the path at UM. WIn. Let someone else fail at PSU...and then take the psu job in about 3-5 years.

Normally, I'd agree, but there is no guarantee the PSU job is there for him at that time or that he's the leading candidate if it is.

If he returns to Happy Valley now and guides PSU through sanctions, he may make it out the other side and stick. But, at least, he'll buy himself all of that time and cover to do so, at a significantly higher salary. Here, he's on the clock--at least with many boosters and fans.

Omar Kelly floated Norv Turner as a possible hire if Golden goes. I think that's an intriguing idea, what do y'all think?

Lulz at Coach D- and Jethro.

AG is delusional if that's the case.

Al takes Mark. He could stay here if he was willing to cut him loose. Problem is the PSU fan base already hate Mark. Guess they watched our games. I am okay with Al if he goes and take Mark. If he leaves us and dumbs that piece of crap anyway, then I hope he gets E.D.

How you a Top Goon then talking bout sad if he tries to flip our commits... U forget about that **** storm up there already worse then UM ... **** if u was really a Goon you'd mask up and be ready to fye on his *****@a$$ for misleading the program... Dont be flawgin dawg like that lil fake *** nicca plies ya heard me

I don't think Cutcliffe would come here, but I'd love getting him. We need a coach. An X's and O's guy who can identify talented kids and teach them how to play. UM is in the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. We don't need a salesman that can convince kids to go to UM. Win and they will be clamoring to get in. It's an easy sell. They only trait above and beyond being a teacher of football and gameday coach that's critical for the UM job is our guy needs to be able to deal with the political bull**** that goes on during S. Fla recruiting with extreme tact. I think Al has been decent at this, but even he managed to **** people off. It's the most diffficult part of coaching football at UM.

Seriously. One thing we can't say is that our President lacks guts. If she makes an unpopular decision, it'll be for reasons other than fear.

Shalala isn't going to touch butch or Petrine; she wants squeaky clean. Our best hope would be Franklin. Chud prob isn't coming here because he'll get a job in the NFL as a coordinator and wait for his next opportunity to be an NFL head coach. Kirby smart might be interested, depends if he's waiting for an SEC gig. I wouldn't mind chad Morris either. I know they don't have head coaching experience but they would probably energize the program and help with current and future recruits.
