My uncle is 62, and he'd choke you until you **** yourself. Then, he'd make you eat it.

My concern with Butch is I'm not sure we're getting the same Butch we got in his early to mid 40's.He was young, hungry to make a name for himself and eventually be an NFL head coach.He was a tireless recruiter.Now in his 60s with much more money than he had back then who exactly are we getting. He wasn't willing to be patient at UNC and wanted to shorten the climb and got caught.A Strong or Stoops from UK would be homeruns if we could get either.Both great recruiters and will have our defense in the top 5-10 in no time..

If Butch was really something special, why hasn't he able to get a better job than being a "special assistant" to Schiano in TB? Are other coaches stupid and don't see what you guys see? Butch won 8 games in the last 3 years at UNC, that is hardly a powerhouse. Besides, Larry Fedora won a bowl game in his 2nd season after NCAA sanctions, while Butch couldn't win a bowl game until his 4th year.

I wouldn't mind Butch as our HC, its just that some people fawn over him as the greatest coach ever, when he is unemployed and seeking a job.

If Golden is interviewing then the wants the job. When is the last time someone interviewed somewhere just for fun? If he gets what he wants money wise or whatever else he is as good as gone in my opinion.

You're right. The guy didn't build the best college football team...ever. Lead us out of probation and put together a freaking nfl caliber defense at unc. Oh, and he took the Cleveland ******* Browns to their only playoff appearance since being resurrected.

Only the biggest academic scandal in NCAA history - that is why Butch won't be hired here. I have nothing aganist his coaching or recruiting, but the last thing this program needs is more NCAA investigations.

The more I read, the more I see how people forget, don't remember or don't bother with history. Let me preface this by saying, if Golden leaves, and I am up front with I don't want him to, but if he does, and I think he is, I would love for Butch to be the guy.

But here are historical facts, all you XBox PS whatever Madden expert wannabe coaches and critics of the mythical bs "genius" label of coaches, Butch was never considered a good gameday coach, in fact I remember vivdly the same people like yourselves criticizing Butch for that. Schiano's defense was killed before 2000, and he was killed as well, God almighty I will never forget the howls and screams and attacks on him after the Penn State game. Go further back, Jimmy was never considered a good game day coach, fricking Fiesta Bowl, still haunts me worse than the OSU one. Butch is a great recruiter, plays the game of recruiting well, and has a great eye for talent. He is one of the few out there that can truly fill out the roster with great potential prospects that you guys would lament because they are only 3 stars, even though most big classes half of every top rated program's is filled with those guys. It's his ability to find those guys that are actually good to studs, that sets him apart. His ability to find the "Blake Bortles" of the world more consistently than most.

College football head coach is not about his schemes or play calling or design, it's first and foremost recruiting and talent evaluation skills, above anything else. The best College Football head coaches are the best used car salesmen

P.S. Bakas saying Golden delay is a contractual debate but if Tx hires Strong (decision between him and Franklin expected within 24 hrs) he expects PSU to make Franklin top priority interview on Sunday

This F'n scares me! If after all this, Golden doesn't go? We are screwed...we will once again suck next year- then have to fire him,,,and pay his salary. We need new coaching blood NOW.

What has he done since? If Butch was still the hot goods, why hasn't anyone either in the NFL or College hired him? Ever since he got canned from UNC, all he has been able to get is some bull**** position in TB. ****, he couldn't get the job at FIU even though his friend Pete Garcia is the AD.
