For the 1st time since this poll opened, People are above 50% in being upset if Al leaves.

I understand it. People are scared of change...mostly due to the recruiting aspect of change. I wonder what the poll would reflect if the question started, "Assuming the entire current class of recruits was guaranteed to honor their commitment,...."

1. If Golden is so bad then why is he being offered another HC gig? I mean when Coker and Shannon were considered bad, they were unemployed for a couple years then went down to lower jobs.

2. If Golden is so bad and he beats out Franklin for the PSU gig, why would we want the 2nd tier guy that Golden beat out for the PSU job?

1) same reason Frank Haith got hired away from Miami, and then we proceeded to win the ACC.

2) PSU cares way more about dumb "PSU guy" **** than winning football games.

Because EVERYONE else is stupid except for the experts on this board. They dont have the "reps" and post count that our football geniuses do.

@footballscoop

Sources at both Miami and Penn State tell us Al Golden to PSU is strong possibility. Will update.

It was all sh**s and giggles before, but now that its a distinct possibility, it's hitting people. Fear of the unknown.

And justifiably so. Tough to have faith in an administration that will have wiffed on three straight hires if Golden dips.

@mikevukkdka: According to Phil Groz publisher of BWI, sources tell him Penn St has offered the job to Al Golden and he believes Golden will accept.

Salary cannot be the only thing in consideration for coaches. It's South beach, at a time where the rest of the country is freezing their asses off. Including me with 11 degree weather in the mid Atlantic. No State Taxes, that adds a little to the pot. Also the most fertile recruiting ground in the country. What other place can you coach one day, play golf, year round, the next. 5 National Championships and played for countless others. ****, sounds pretty good to me.

Get a coach that will light a fire under these kids asses. African American will be a plus as being able to relate can have an impact. Just make sure that the hire is passionate (Unlike Shannon), on the young side (unlike Coker) and can coach (unlike Golden). I just described coach Strong, which won't happed, but someone like James Franklin might.

Of course they can, many of the posters here have 3 different personalities...

According to an ESPN Miami radio host, Al Golden is not returning calls from current Miami players, Board of Trustee members, or the media

Stand with the U huh? Just the fact that he doing an interview is ****ed up to me. **** this guy. Ole pimp ***.

Didn't 90% of this board want him gone? But now he's a traitor...our fan base can't have it both ways.

You gonna carry Al's **** pail all the way up to PSU for him?

Don't have a lot of confidence in the administration hiring a coach that will help us keep most of the commits and take us forward in 2014.

chef...

Good guy. Consistently the 2nd best HC on the field against good teams on the schedule in 3 yrs at UM. Not irreplaceable. #Canes
I agree with all of this. Unfortunately I have zero confidence in the University to replace him with someone who represents an upgrade.
