Was thinking the exact same thing on my way in this evening. Great time for him to leave. Gets a bump in pay, resets his promotion clock, and leaves with the perception of being the savior of two programs.

If this dude bolts after all the horse **** hes had to put up with not only from being blindsided by the NCAA to all this SoFla high school football player/coach drama, then what a waste of time for him. Whether or not you believe it, Golden put his heart into trying to build this program back up, and if he skates to some cold *** big 10 rapery, than what a cop out..

You act like the bum volunteered here the last 3 years. LULZ at waste of time. He pocketed $6M for his time here as a failure and hopefully manages to parlay his failure here it into a raise from his alma mater. $6M is pretty good cake for one win over a team with more than 7 wins.

Plus he's been a college head coach and is familiar with recruiting in Miami.

Why on earth would PSU want Golden?

I mean are they impressed with what he's done here?

They don't strike me as an entirely Friends & Family school when it comes to hiring.

They'll want a competent coach, has Golden proven that yet? Despite the fact that he's had as hard a job as any coach has ever had entering a program, but still, has he proven competence yet? Hardly.

If Golden doesn't fire his buddy and best pal Ohnofrio, his credibility re: turning this program around takes it right on the chin. Can he ever be trusted if his buddies take precedence over his own statements about "the brand" and playing competent football.

Having said that, why hasn't he already made this firing? My hopes of this happening have plunged at the lack of news. This should have been done within 24 hours of the Bowl loss ..., no, make that the ridiculously embarrassing and shameful showing, in our first decent bowl game in a while. Frankly, the O sucked too, but the D has sucked moose balls all season long.

A large amount of damage is already done IMO. His margin for error was pretty small before this little charade and now the kettle will be scorching hot. No fan (or recruit for that matter) want their coach pimping himself out to other programs.

At this point he probably needs to leave. He'll probably get some defections regardless if he stays or not after this mess.

My only worry is I HIGHLY doubt the fans (and myself) are going to be enamored with the next hire either.

He understands, next year is going to be brutal, and if he stays he will have to fire his best friend with a very hostile fan base. I think he gets out before the going gets really tough. I don't think for many reasons Schiano is a solution would be more of a problem. Will not do well with the SOFL crowd

You are probably right. UM has done nothing in 10+ years to show they know how to hire a football coach

If he leaves, I'd be for hiring Stoops from UK. A defensive HC with Miami ties and knows the S FLA recruiting landscape from his time at FSU. He would be more inclined to keep Coley rather than anyone else we'd hire. He'd bring most of FSU's great staff from last season. It would be a fairly easy pull from UK and really really soften the blow of recruiting losses.

The talent won't matter if the schemes don't change, so worrying about losing some recruits this year is short sighted and doesn't take into account the damamge of giving up 500 yds a game will have on every class from here on out.

I agree Able...I'm not sure if he's a style/culture fit either. I think he's got upside but I'm not so sure he'd work down here long term (I've been ripped for saying though). I just think he's a pretty solid coach.

I'm more just very much AGAINST the Chud suggestion. There is absolutely ZERO evidence he'd have what it takes to run a college program. He has a plus offensive background. I'm pretty sure most on this board haven't even heard the guy talk. Very uninspiring. Maybe he would be a pleasant surprise? Who knows.
