Offensive Lines

The good news is that kc, darling, gabios and Linder looked decent at times. The bad news is that we don't know Jack about the others or them together. This line is will determine the season. That and coaching

Gabios, very up to date with the team I see.
Ur right. Not gabios, Isidora

Putting Odogwu at RT is a great way to end Kaaya's season. He was dog **** in every scenario last year and I can't believe he improved all that much.

Why can't you believe he improved all that much? Don't know if he has or hasn't, but given the fact that he came in pretty much new to the game of football, it's quite possible for him to make a big leap in performance over a short period of time.

Darling-LT
McDermott- LG
Linder- Center
Isidora-RG
Odogwu/St. Louis- RT

Our three best linemen blocking Kaaya's blindside is a must, whether Darling and McDermott switch positions or not.

Keep hearing Odogwu is looking way better, but last year he was the worst offensive lineman I've ever seen step on a football field at any level...

Golden just said that the offensive line is probably the “most exciting thing” about the team right now #Canes

he insults the local fan bases intelligence even more than David Samson

Gall will ball!

He'll be an NFL player in 2 years.

And his little brother is a BEAST, too!

Odogwu... God bless the kid but, he is flat out terrible! Just look back at the Virginia game last year right before half time. During the field goal to tie the game, Odogwu doesn't even move!!! And the kick gets blocked bc of him. He beats Kerry Collins on this play as the "Human Statue." Kid can't even perform basic fundamentals on ST. Simply cover your gap and block forward...

One guy to keep an eye on is Tyler Gauthier. He is very strong and seems to have the right mental makeup.
We always seem to have one guy (like Linder last year) that is less-heralded, but ends up being a solid OL for us. I heard a lot of people last year hand-wringing that Linder wasn't ready, and now...no one seems to question his skills as our starting C at all.

Maybe Gauthier is this year's Linder. If that happens, it would help the interior OL tremendously both now and in the future.

I do have some pretty heavy concerns that of our 21-commit #SWAG16 class that there are zero OL committed to this point. We need at least 2 guards and 1 center. We need depth and talent upgrades on the interior.

Is he a G or T? We really need 1 or 2 of the true freshman to be ready for minutes early.

Guard. He's a phone booth guy, not overly athletic but strong and tough.

St. Louis isn't ready yet but is making steady progress. He is the most talented of the bunch.

Is Sonny improved enough to be more than just a JAG out there at RT?

Would like to see all the newbies get shirted.

Wells, sr
Isidora, jr
Gall, jr
Odogwu, so
Knighton, so
Linder, so
Darling, so
McDermott, so
Jones, so
Brown, fr
Grimsley, fr

make it work Kehoe

I need to see it in actual games.

However, IF Sonny plays like he's been practicing, we have a right tackle. And that's coming from someone who said he'd never play here.

His footwork and awareness are miles ahead of where they were. He has lined up at first team RT every day and is winning consistently. His length is a huge asset, and combined with his upper-body strength it allows him to control and steer defenders. He also has good foot-speed getting to the second level. He's not a great drive-blocker and lacks a powerful-lower body, but his length makes up for a lot.

Again, this is just practice. There is a ton of film from the past two years of Sonny looking overmatched. But he's been working harder than anybody, and he is still learning the game. Maybe it clicked for him.

Hope you're right, so if he can lock down the RT spot is Darling a legit LT.

Was counting on KC nailing down the LT job so that Darling and Isidora could keep that familiarity on the right side.

Is KC just not that good?

An O-Line injury is just going to give the storybook beginning to an untested recruit burning his redshirt to go in and become the greatest O-lineman in recent Miami history.

He'll be the main focus of "The U Part 6: Why are we still making these?"

Kc is good but I continue to say that he belongs at guard. It is the best thing for the team and his career.

He can play outside but his lack of length gives him little margin for error. We need help inside and I think he has next level potential there.
