Offensive Line

The line lacks talent, but not coaching, not by a long shot. All blow ups, missed assignments and penalties are at rock bottom compared to even last season.

Yes he did a few weeks ago. Overall he still isn’t good tho.
For a guy lining up at 3 positions he’s doing alright. He’s the only guy doing that and he’s been better than everyone else. He’s the least of our issues on the ol. Which isn’t a compliment , but it’s the truth.

Scaife been low key áss all year
Its not even low key any more. Its quite obvious. Hes not a guard. He doesnt have the strength to move people at guard. But he is pidgeonholed there due to height. Gaynor is weak and small...Clark is a center playing guard as well. And their you have our interior...where we are running 100% of our running plays. We dont have a chance with any team with strong dts or lbs worth a sh*t.

Honestly John Campbell or Zion really should be the guards...and next season Navaughn Donaldson no matter how fat will take one of those guys spots.

I think you are over looking the fact that we have played the easiest schedule in last 15 years so far. UAB, FSU, Pitt, Virginia, Louisville. The reason we look improved is because we played sht teams. I assure vs better comp CLEMSON we are still the same turnstile up front.
Pitt,UAB, FSU likely UVA all have DL that will be playing on Sundays. Your looking at records...not talent. There arent muchh better DL's than Pitt nationally.

Lashlee is better than Enos. So we graduated from trash to average. It counts.
Ultimately we just need more gifted players on the OL. We’ve actually recruited pretty nicely there with the 2020/2021 classes. Will take some time before we see improvement.

I’m still skeptical but realistically we’ve got one of the worst OL rooms (at least in terms of upperclassmen) in major CFB. Expecting excellence is unrealistic

I thought UVA's D line was Decent talent wise and they whipped our guys badly ....

Moving Scaife to left tackle where he wont get manhandled by bigger stronger players and then putting Reed at RG where he is the bully solves a lot of problems.

We struggle run blocking, we'd have way more sacks if it wasn't for a incredibly mobile QB, and watching Scaife get run slap over is disconcerting. I chalked it up to two good DLs before this game, but ND handled Pitt's D-line pretty well.

We are playing like a team heading for a fall, the WR worked some things out this week, the OL better very, very quickly.

Maybe I’m just being a Debbie downer but I swear our offensive line just looks physically smaller than most of our power 5 opponents OL. Even when we had the opponents dL gassed because of our pace of play we still can’t get a push🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

PFF means sht to me I watch us get bullied up front every week. You guys can lie to yourselves but we suck on both lines of the ball.

yeah I think Scaife is better at LT and put the bigger guys in the middle for more power there.

On most running plays I saw our center pushed into our backfield

They can't run block

I think Knighton should be starting because he is slippery and can squirt thru tackles better than Cam. Line can't open any holes/lanes
I think he doesn’t avoid contact enough. Too many times I’ve seen him NOT make a guy miss for my liking. We got CAM and Burns for that.

Our so called offensive line improvement is a direct result of the offense system we run now..... We get absolutely no push from the interior of our line and we won't with the current set of lineman we trout out there. That's just the sad reality.
I touched on this. Lashlee scheme and play calling masks some of the lines deficiencies. This is what Enos did NOT do last year

We have recruited well Isaiah walker and Jalen rivers, El Gammal and Chris Washington. We just gotta wait on development now.

I have been hearing for years how well we recruited but also for years i have seen very little player devolopment

Zion is below average. He is definitely not above it. There is no metric grades or actual film that support he is a starting tackle. Scaife has been bad all year and campbell hasn’t been all that either. Clark isn’t good and not sure why rivers or reed don’t get looks over him
You see pff grade from uva? That’s far from below average.
