given the fact Miami will probably struggle running the ball consistently on Saturday, am I wrong that Richt should do a bunch of max-protect and just take deep shots over and over again(even without Richards). Because lets face it, they arent going to be able to grind out long drives vs Clemson

Or will Richt go full-blown spread(4 and 5 wide) and go with a bunch of quick hitting throws?

Honestly I cant see Miami winning without hitting on at least three or four explosive plays..

We'll definitely need to hit on some big plays to have a chance, a defensive TD wouldn't hurt either

Quick hitting throws with some deep shots thrown in. We can't throw short all game long or Clemson will destroy us.

Edge passing game will be used as an extension of the run game. Wildcat. Flea Flickers. Annexation of Puerto Rico. Everything will be pulled out on Saturday night.

In the second half of the Pitt game, I wanted us to take numerous deep shots just to give ourselves a chance. Every drive was a **** 3 and out anyways, might as well give yourselves a chance with the explosive playmakers we got

Gotta be full-on spread, misdirection, sweeps, counters, reverses mixed with quick-hitters up the gut in the run game. Go deep early and often in the passing game and dare the DBs to run with us. Empty the freaking playbook and leave it all on the field.

The run game will not work unless we set it up with the pass. Id love to come out in 5 wide. We need to get some first downs I'm scared of the defense being on the field for mot of the game.

I think we need to spread out the field both vertically and horizontally. If we let the game be played in a phone booth, it'll be ugly.

I think we really need to be able to sprinkle in some Rosier runs, like we did against VT and ND. And all kinds...keeping on the read, taking off when the defense opens up, etc. His decision making in this respect and in where/when to throw the ball will tell the tale on O, I believe. We're so much more dynamic when he's picking his spots to run. He extends drives that way, gets chunk plays, and that stuff really crushes the other team's defense throughout a game. Especially when he makes it happen on 3rd down and red zone.

Echo what everyone has said. Will need to go deep and preferably hit on a couple to have any chance of stretching out Clemson's D (and to win the game). Pass to set up the run......only way Homer and Dallas are going to have any room is if we have them off balance and/or worried about giving up the deep ball. For better or worse.....we are going to have to expose Rosier a bit and hope his hits are better than his misses.

Unless we somehow get something from the offensive line that I haven't seen all year, there's no way we can expect to come out and just start pounding the ball.

the Cuse was able to wear down Clemson's Dline with tempo. This is why getting enough first downs early and extending drives will be key. Cant just keep going 3-and-out all the time, especially early in the game( where I do think Miami's defense will keep them right in the thick of things)

I listened to a Clemson podcast during a long drive today. Apparently S Carolina had success early running up the middle against them (I didn’t see game) but abandoned the run when they went down 14-0.

Defensively, it seems like they think they get a numbers advantage because they think Wilkins will draw a double team every time. The CBs haven’t been great on the outside, but they don’t think they will need to totally stack the box to stop our run game. They mentioned the CBs being healthy now due to a bye week followed by Citidel late in the year.

Their defense has been shutting teams down all year. From what I heard, the deep ball is where they are most suspect. I don’t think we can go 4 verts and launch it deep every down like I’m playing my little cousin in madden, but we will need to hit the big plays. Nobody sustains drives against them. And with our questionable punter, they can start winning the field position battle in a hurry.

Seems like offensively this is what they have relied on this year. They are the worst top 10 team in big plays, and they don’t sustain drives well either. But when given the short field, they have had enough success to be ranked No. 1 going into this weekend. That should tell you all you need to know about their D.

They’ve also apparently been good at limiting turnovers, but these guys were nervous that Bryant tends to throw high, and that he hasn’t had to face a scheme like ours that has DBs looking into the backfield while he has to throw over the middle. They mentioned Bryant needing to make sure he accounts for all defenders - seems like we might hear a “the QB didn’t even see him” from Herbstreet Sat night.

They also mentioned a numbers advantage on offense because of Bryant’s ability to run, and mentioned our LBs tendency to hit the same gap, potentially opening lanes for QB to run through. Sounds like his legs are big part of game plan.

By the end of the podcast, I thought we had a better chance of winning than I did before it started. I think Clemson beats us 7 or 8 out of 10 times, but it’s just setting up right. Don’t forget, Malik has hit a lot of those deep balls this year. He likes throwing those more than anything else. He was awful vs Pitt, yes. But if he can connect on a few of them, if we can get a big play or 2 from our defense, if we dont then the ball over, and if we can at least get a few first downs to win field position battle and shorten the game, I think we can sneak out with a W.

Its easy, just like Tecmo Bowl

1st drive:
First Play - RB Screen to Homer
Second Play - Deep ball to Cager
Third Play - Shallow cross to Berrior
Fourth Play - RB Dive Homer
Fifth Play - Bubble screen Harley
Sixth Play - Jet Sweep DJ for the touchdown!!!

Playbook is gonna be wide open more so than the Notre Dame game.

Expect a trick play or two.

Hopefully we roll the pocket more this week , that protects the ol and makes the reads simpler for Mr. Also gives him and option to run.

Use the template that Syracuse laid out. Up tempo and match ups. Get them stuck in a personnel group and go fast. U may not remember but Cuse ran the ball about 50 times that game.

Malik let something slip in Tuesday interview. He mentioned establishing the run early. We can't win if we have 3rd and longs. We must have some sort of ground game and Richt will try something to make that happen.
