Offensive game-plan/philosophy vs Clemson...

Max protect doesn't seem to be Richt's game.

I said it another thread - roll the pocket...screens to anybody (RB / WR / **** throw in a screen to Irving too) to slow down their rush a tick...north/south running (no outside zone to the field, please)...misdirection...tempo.

Richt is going to earn his paycheck on Saturday night for sure

Gotta be full-on spread, misdirection, sweeps, counters, reverses mixed with quick-hitters up the gut in the run game. Go deep early and often in the passing game and dare the DBs to run with us. Empty the freaking playbook and leave it all on the field.

OMG . another empty the playbook post.. been hiding that thing all season,, too funny

OMG . do you really think that is a 'slip''? pretty sure that is just about everybody's game plan against everybody.

Actually, we only seemed to hide it during the Pitt game. Before that we were introducing new looks every week the previous few weeks. Richt was doing all he could to get Rosier up to speed, and that took a while. We saw more wrinkles during the VT and ND games, as it appeared Rosier was settling in. For whatever reason it just disappeared last week. There is no doubt in my mind the playbook HAS opened since the beginning of the season.

Also, you have to take Walton's injury into account. That most certainly changed the O we were wanting to run. What we were seeing in November was not what we saw in September, so yes, the playbook is opening. Not that we were keeping plays secret, but that the O is coming along and actually able to run more plays.

Spread em out and go deep. We win or die with our athletes.

We are not an efficient offense, don't try to be now. We will win because of big plays.

Their defense has been shutting teams down all year. From what I heard, the deep ball is where they are most suspect. I don’t think we can go 4 verts and launch it deep every down like I’m playing my little cousin in madden, but we will need to hit the big plays. Nobody sustains drives against them. And with our questionable punter, they can start winning the field position battle in a hurry.

I'm not sure this is totally accurate. It's been repeated on the board a bunch. NC State had a number of long drives on them. I watched them rock 10+ play drives multiple times. All in different ways.

I predicted that Deejay would throw a TD this season.

Banking on it being this game.

The guys made it sound like the defense is peaking right now and, even with an offense that is sputtering a little, we wouldn’t be able to score enough points to win. The one guy said he rather punt on, for example, 4th and 2 from the 36 and play the field position game, rather than go for it or attempt a FG. They were confident we won’t sustain drives. Don’t shoot the messenger, just relating what I heard.

One thing I forgot to mention that is huge advantage UM has in the FG kicking game. Clemson doesn’t even attempt FGs anymore. Going for it on 4th and Longs and whatnot. “We Clemson fans know that if this game comes down to a FG, we likely lose.”

Seems like points might be at a premium. I guessed 47 on total - opened at 48 and was down to 46.5 when I looked today. I wouldn’t touch it either way cause defensive TDs might very well put it over the number.

Not sure you have been watching the same games I have. Everything mentioned above has been shown in certain games this season. They are in the playbook. It's the frequency and timing that changes. I would be expecting these type of plays to be called more than usual this game. Why is this difficult for you to grasp?

Malik let something slip in Tuesday interview. He mentioned establishing the run early. We can't win if we have 3rd and longs. We must have some sort of ground game and Richt will try something to make that happen.

He did let it slip. It sounded like Richt is focusing on establishing the run early (power versus power). I am not sure that's the right strategy. I don't trust the OL yet.

given the fact Miami will probably struggle running the ball consistently on Saturday, am I wrong that Richt should do a bunch of max-protect and just take deep shots over and over again(even without Richards). Because lets face it, they are going to be able to grind out long drives vs Clemson

Or will Richt go full-blown spread(4 and 5 wide) and go with a bunch of quick hitting throws?

Honestly I cant see Miami winning without hitting on at least three or four explosive plays..

See my thread.

You're not wrong but Miami hasn't shown max-protect all year. With Herndon gone especially who stays in to block?

Clemson is good at preventing the deep ball but they have given up sustained drives pretty regularly in their competitive games this year. NC State especially had great success moving the ball with conventiional offense.

I like the idea of going empty early on with some scripted quick hitters.

We've said that in plenty of games this year including notre dame. Its on course with "we plan on going out there and putting up points"

We need to tire their D. Our offense is at a disadvantage and no way we can play our regular offensive scheme. Fast tempo and spread offense. As much as I hate to write this I thin that is the way. Cuse beat them with this formula

Big splits in the OL and attack downhill with run game. Going to be a big game for Harley and Thomas!

I imagine they are already focused on shutting down the run game. Our Oline is questionable, our TE is hurt and our best WR is hurt. Probably going to try to make Malik beat them
