Offense

Watch the Highlights of UVA vs Louisville. UVA coaches used the screen effectively to neutralize Louisville's aggressive pass rush. I don't understand our coaches. How may screens did we attempt last night?
Also how many screen plays almost lead or lead to holding calls lol I think it was a couple

Honestly the offense problem mainly comes down to Beck had to play better.

And personally I would like to see more 4 wide sets. Throw Ray Ray or Tony Johnson and spread things out a bit more. Our TE’s are not blocking well nor are they making a difference as playmakers receiving.

The WR core has enough talent. Obviously there’s no Chris Bell, but there’s enough talent to put a quality product on the field.

With that being said I think the rotations and personnel choices have been puzzling in O & D. Some guys are better at some things than others and I don’t see that taken into account. They r giving too many snaps to players not making impacts on games.

We beat Notre Dame, UiF, FSU, and South Florida with this exact game plan

People thinking we are gonna change it just because we lost to Louisville are wild

It’s been 3 years. For better or worse this is who we are unless we happen to find a QB that is the best in school history again
We barely won most of those games. If you tell me we are going to barely win by playing vanilla offense I would rather they lose and get the coaches out of here. That isn't good offensive football we have seen. It's 🗑️.

i know you are right. But common sense tells all of us that there's simply too much tape out there. Just add a few wrinkles. use the speed that's sitting on the bench.

The biggest issue is the staff believes the OL is more talented and capable than they really are. It's always great in the beginning of the season. After that, it's like being sitting ducks. Too easy for opposing defenses to shut it down.

We were horribly inefficient on the early downs either plays that went little to nothing or penalties that set us back. Didn't help Beck kept throwing the ball to the other team. 3 of those picks were from clean pockets.

There was plenty of open receivers all game - Beck **** the bed with a combo of bad throws and bad reads

Dawson dialed up more than enough to get us out of there with a W - the Aaron Murray film breakdown should be watched by all

Ok, thought we recruited WRs well & had targets. So how do we end up with basically a 2-man receiving corps?

The most frustrating thing is you see glimpses of it. And you see it work.

And then poof…it’s gone.

I’ve never liked this hire at head coach because I disagree with him on a fundamental level about football. There’s just nothing I can do about it other than be happy when we win, and try not to let losses bother me too much when we know they’re coming.

It blows.

Spoiler Alert:

We will not be switching it up

I don’t think people have let it sink in how much this coaching staff believes in this philosophy

What doesn’t make sense to me…

They’re so confident in their coaching on oline and the “standard” but they need to bunch them up into the tightest splits in the nation so that they’re not behind the sticks? If the line is that talented why is the philosophy still defensive and conservative?

That philosophy makes more sense if your oline is **** and can’t execute blocks and double teams.

You would almost think the staff doesn’t trust the line to execute, but it’s been consistent the entire time Mario/Mirabal have been here.

I can’t remember who it was but he got a lot of **** for it back in 2023 maybe

Might have been my guy @skyman but could be wrong

He pointed out how much we protect the OL. Extra TE blockers. Backs as blockers (why blocking seems to trump everything on who plays)

Which is fine if necessary right? But if we are recruiting 5 star OL and having our elite evaluators and coaches fill in the blanks then shouldn’t we be free to run wide open if/when we need to?

The amount of resources spent on our OL is not bringing back the returns for me and people have freaked out when it’s been brought up in the past

Maybe I’m just ****ed still from last night though I dunno

That’s who Beck looks too. He has built a connection with them. Not only that but they are scheming these guys open giving them multiple chances to make plays. The staff needs to be giving guys run. You give Dalyn Upshaw that screen that Toney got, he probably takes that to the house. But U can’t expect a guy to get 1 snap and perform. Toney and Daniels are doing great but if their snaps drop from 60 to 50, I don’t think their effectiveness or numbers take a hit and neither does the offense take a big hit. 2 out of JoJo, Tony Johnson, Moore, and Upshaw should be getting about 10 snaps a game. Guys should be getting some development and reps, whether that’s blocking or scheming a play for them. You never know when injuries will come up.

That vid was eye opening. Dudes running wide open everywhere on the field. I thought Beck played bad on first watch, but good grief. Dawson catching way too much grief. He still scheming guys open when we only have 2 WRs. QB1 just needs to not play terribly. Fowler mentioned it during Ole Miss-UGA, was wild to hear Carson blame Lofton for the route after he threw 4-5 INTs.

Concluded with a key point. What happens if one or both of them get nicked up? You’re subbing in inexperienced raw players.

We are truly terrible! We couldn’t score with conventional plays so we had to do trick plays just to move the ball! No answers for were found today!
Offense has zero juice.

Scored on 2 trick plays and a defensive pick 6.

Imagine having Toney on your Offense and getting him 2 catches for 12 yards...

Endless malpractice
