Odds of being ranked..?

Obviously nobody is expecting to be ranked with a 58-0 loss on the record. But just for kicks in giggles, if we beat unc and gt are we ranked?

Our only losses were to the number one team in the nation, a top 20 rival team in fsu, a game in which we were in until the very end, and a stutter against Cincinnati (no excuse for that one)


I feel it would be hard for them to leave out an 8-3 power five team, especially one with a solid SOS such as us

Probably so considering unc is #17 right now in the nation and Miami would be 7-3
 
Beat UNC we will be low 20s (23-25) or just miss out, beat GT as well I think no way we aren't ranked.
 
Two weeks ago, most on this board were saying UM won't win another game; one freak play and a 6 pt win over a 3-5 team later and, bam---UM's gonna win out and jump into the ranking! Settle down everyone, jeeze. They'd have to beat NC by 40 to get into the rankings--and that ain't happening.
 
Switch ACC to SEC and UNC would be ranked about #12 and a win against them would catapult us into the top 15. As it stands in the real universe, I bet we'd be in the "others receiving votes" area of at least the AP Poll if we were win a close game against the Tobacco Road Tools.

I doubt we're ranked if we beat UNC since we're not receiving votes as of now, but keep winning and we will be ranked.

The reality is they've won 2 games in a row against very average teams. Canes are average and no better than a 6-8 win team for the past decade. There's no one here that can watch the product on the field and truly believe they are worthy of a top 25 ranking.

Any additional wins we get to celebrate this year are welcome and the extra practices for the bowl game could be huge for the next staff. BBB

Want us to be ranked when we can prove we stay there? So you'd rather not be ranked than garner more national attention on the networks and for recruiting purposes?

There is no single benefit to not being ranked other than having your coach fired and that already happened
 
If we win out, we will be ranked. That way Clemson has another ranked team to beat to justify their playoff birth.

Wait, you mean if we win out and beat Clemson in the ACCCG we won't be in the playoff?!?!

To be ranked you have to "look good" beating teams. It's not just the w/l record. It all depends on if and how we win, not just if. We're still struggling with the "how"

Thanks, that went over my head. I've seen it on the board but thought some ppl were serious about it ha

if we beat unc it will be spun hard that unc was over rated or we cheated.
