OC thread

But what makes anyone think it’s possible?
I see you have switched your allegiance already. I assumed you would be lounging with Rorcht enjoying Richtirement. The answer to your question has been explained many times, he wants to call plays and also....$$$

Well if called a “coaching search” for a reason. We don’t know his level of interest so if you are interested you contact him and see if he is or he isn’t.
What you don’t do if assume he won’t be and not contact him.
It’s a process.

The post I responded to said Yost is a no brainer and it’s possible that we could land him. I just want to know what makes anyone think it’s possible. Is he an east coast or southern guy?

Also couldn’t recruit to save a ****. His best QB statistically at UNC was Marquise Williams... a butch recruit. His only QB was Mitch

As I've stated MANY times.....recruiting prowess is probably the LAST thing I want/need out of my OC. That position, on THIS staff, has to be a pure X's and O's savant. Let the rest of the staff recruit.

I thought you were referring to Bedenbough in my reply. Don't know much about Yost as far as goals, lifestyle but he has called plays for a while. We could pay him significantly more though

diaz is first coach In long time to have this much passion. most of our recent coaches coker/Shannon/golden/richt all laid back guys. diaz much more like jimmy then them jimmy had so much passion and u see that with diaz that said I expect a guy like Applewhite, or a mullen/meyer tree oc as he worked for mullen for years. its clear no matter what going some sort of spread be it spread option or air raid

I understand your position about x and o but with all these green staff members and bad recruiting history, we need both

This.

We have the talent on offense to average around 40 points a game.

Manny will more tha likely hire a janitor in line with what the admin likes.

Want Ponce just bc he is Cuban...don't judge me....and that App State offense performed pretty **** well (More serious reason). What? Nothing wrong with wanting my people in charge at the Gables! There is always all this talk about Black head coaches this, or Black head coach that...rightfully so, but it applies to my Latino familia as well. It's the Cuban invasion at the U...bring in Tony Montana as S&C coach...Lmao.

Eff no!!! Tony Montana as recruiting coordinator. No kid is leaving South Florida to play elsewhere unless he let's them leave.

Couldn't disagree more. I'd argue this choice of OC is not only THE most important hire on Manny's staff, but will define his tenure here.

Why? Cause the HC is already a defensive guy and is going to retain and bring in even more defensive guys. Plenty of guys in those roles that can handle recruiting. This OC hire is basically going to have FULL AUTONOMY OVER EVERYTHING OFFENSIVE. I want a guy who eats, sleeps and lives play calling. THAT combined with Manny's defense SHOULD get us more wins.

And then THOSE WINS will do the recruiting for us. Sorry but to me that's not negotiable out of this OC hire. If it's a James Coley type I'll lose my ******* mind.

He's a Clemson alum, not sure he'd want to leave. I am also wary of guys that had generational type talents like Watson and Lawrence. Can really skew performance.

I thought about that but he's got Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott in front of him as Co-OC's. The chances of him ever calling plays at Clemson are slim as long as Dabo is there. He'll be affordable. This will be a definite promotion. And he'll be able to get back to calling plays which will lead to additional opportunities.

He recruited Lawrence. Totally fine with him being able to recruit generational talent. Also, he was in charge of a very good offense with Richmond so there is some evidence that he can call plays and be successful.

So you have evidence that Yost has interest in going to Miami?

Not everyone is chasing a paycheck. The guy is obviously comfortable working with the head coach that he followed to TT.

Let's post news and ideas here.

The name that intrigues me is Bill Bedenbaugh, co-OC Oklahoma. His name has been brought up before and it makes a ton of sense, especially now that we have a fresh start with Manny.

Lifelong Air Raid guy (played under Leach), has been around the best playcallers in the game, elite OL coach and evaluator of OL talent. He can help address our two biggest needs. The knock, and it's a big one, is that he's never called plays.
Houston just fired Major Applewhite. Best option if you ask me.

All these names got me feeling like this.
