O-line Talk

I just cant figure out how the o-line is so shìtty. I looked at duke who only gave up 1 sack to bama and there o-line looks decent.

Guess what? Duke has 2 new starters at tackle and one is a rsfresh and the other a true fresh. Their center is a rssoph. Does that sound familiar? Their highest rated starter was the true freshman tackle at 88. They do have a rssr and rsjr at guard but donaldson has a ton of experince and scaife has started the last 10 or 11 games.

So i don't want to keep hearing the excuse of being young. Either the coaching sucks or the evaluations wasn't good.

I know El isn't a big fan of herbert and i wasn't high on him coming out of hs. But at this point is he really that much worse than zion and campbell? I think at the least he will get out his stance quicker than zion.

Some needs to be done expeditiously.
Let me help, you’re comparing guys who have been in a system for 12 years to guys who haven’t even been in 1 for 12 months.

It's the worst we ever had. Bad evals, bad coaching, bad everything. Searels managed to foul up everythang. Everythang? Every thang.

Scaife - decent player
Donaldson - sluggish, slow, fat, soft
Gaynor - small, weak
Clark - will only get worse
Nelson - will only get worse
Campbell - blind?
Traore - not ready
Herbert - skinny, slow, weak
Hillery - short arms, weak
Kennedy - powder
Dykstra - waste
Elgammal - project
Here we go again! It’s rhe players fault, lolol. There are some highly rated players in there who look like they have regressed in our program. Manny, get your coaches to step up their game!!! Like man posted, those duke players are the same class and lower rated yet they look much better. The Florida line, remember how our fans pumped their chest becuase we had the higher ranked and more experience line, lolol. Manny we need you man.

I know this probably isn't going to happen, but I would love to see the coaches try out Jonathan Ford at Offensive Tackle. It would make so much sense for all parties involved. Ford might have been a better O-line prospect coming out of high school, and it's not like Ford has looked like an All-American at d-tackle this season. This could be what Ford needs to reach his full potential. What have they got to lose?

Players sucked coming in, coaches sucked at picking them, coaches sucked at not developing them, coaches couldn’t get the guys they wanted. It appears to be some mix of those obv causes.

Key is we should stop labeling the problem.

We should start saying this is the best fix This year. Literally name who should have play where on the line.

Bad evals, possibly bad coaching, and a scheme that highlights our weaknesses. That’s how you get to 18 sacks in 4 games

This right here... over rated line coming in, combined with poor coaching is accepted and the results show.. but this can be overcome with an offensive scheme... get the damm ball out quickly, stay in the shotgun, 2 - 3 step drops, tempo, etc... this will HIDE the young guys and deficiencies with the O-line.. The staff needs to adjust the offense to the personnel.

“Expeditiously” 😂😂😂

We're going to see about that aren't we?
Would them beating up on our porous OL change any of what I said? They have a terrible DL. Get absolutely no push and only have 2 sacks against FBS teams this year.

If Zion would have just layed down on the ground as soon as the ball was snapped, it would have taken the rusher longer to step over him and get to the QB then it did with him trying to block him.
You might be on to something

I'm really wondering if the coaches made the decision to play these young lineman with looking at the future. Meaning, they'd rather sacrifice this year in order to have an experienced offensive line down the road. When we play Bama in 2021, we'll have a veteran offensive line of juniors and seniors with 2 - 3 years of playing experience.

I don't know if the young lineman are better than players that have been in the program multiple years. Perhaps the young guys have more upside for the future and that's why they're playing.
Ya thats what ive been thinking there throwin the youngins to the wolves hopin in 2 or 3 years we have a bunch of guys with 20-30 starts under there belt!

In absolute terms? No. But for what most of us care about, Miami football, yeah it kinda matters.

Hope not. The future isnt going to look very good if we’re trying to recruit better talent while we’re getting our *** pushed in weekly.
