...as the glass being half full with our O-Line. Looks like DJ Scaife is now the starter at RT. He is going to be a beast. Donaldson is MUCH better inside where he could end up being ALL-ACC at least before he is through. Boulware is playing really well at LG and will only get better. Gauthier is solid and will get better. And if I’m not mistaken Herbert is redshirting this year. He was a legit 4 Star kid that EVERYONE wanted. He came in with a shoulder and arm issue. Played some last year and IMO, is going to break out next year. Add Freshmen Reed and Campbell to that mix AND (prayers), recruit OT Neal to that and, honestly, our O-Line could be legitimately awesome going forward.

I’m inclined to agree that we are a year away from having a good offensive line.

For the rest of this year, if Richt sticks to:

St Louis
Boulware
Gauthier
Donaldson
Scaife

I think that can be an above average offensive line.

Scaife at RT, Donaldson at RG clean up a lot of issues.

I am still curious to see Scaife at LT and moving St. Louis back to the right side.

Gauthier routinely gets manhandled upfront, happened again on Saturday. It's tough to run when your center is pushed 3yds into the backfield at the snap

If you think Herbert played some last year idk where you are getting that from. He played in one game last year and then sat out the rest of the season. Some people are saying he redshirted last year due to injury but I have no idea what “insiders” to believe. If he didn’t redshirt last year then he def will this year.

The St Louis, Boulware, Gauthier, Donaldson, and Scaife lineup is the only lineup that gives us even a chance of defeating Clemson for the ACC title. Let's hope they stick with this lineup and don't do any stupid substitutions.

This is what gaynor is trying to do, redshirt so he can get his body right to take over that center position come next year and keep in mind, our tightends while they are doing an excellent job for being freshman, once they get stronger, that's going to help the run game out that much more, remember, coach richt knows what he's doing.

I'm positive on the foundation of the o-line going forward. Only one more move needs to be made - put Scaife at LT and move St. Louis over to RT going forward. At least with that said, we have our LT for the next 2 years minimum. I agree on Donaldson becoming a potential conference all-american at guard. Boulware's solid at LG and will be an improvement going forward. As far as Gauthier goes, he's solid, but I don't see him improving going forward. That's not a knock on him, that's just him having hit his ceiling; which is still fairly high.

Yeah, O-line's going to be solid next year as we'll just have to figure out one of the tackle spots going forward (possibly Campbell; Neal if we can land him).

Will take another 6 games to realize Scaife and St. Louis need to swap. But I'll take it

The main thing is certain, coach richt keeps a good o-line, that's what cant be rushed in this process, we got maybe one more year of avg o-line play before this thing takes off, cause come next year, we'll probably have 3 to 4 new starters, we can say donaldson and scaife are starters next year, every other position although boulware is making is making his case to be inked in as a starter as well.

This staff knows what they're doing, scaife is developing, he has the talent to be a starter, doesnt know all the plays, but he's earning the Trust of this staff to be out their as the season progresses, wont belong tho!

Mark Richt needs to help the OL by not running on every first down. Its stupid. Defenses stop our run game cuz they know when its coming and for the love of god, get Lingard in the game.

What is the deal with Herbert red shirting this year? Is he injured?

I'm wondering the same thing. Stefan's redshirt tracker has him playing in 0 games so far. Not even the 4 games he could play in and keep his redshirt. So he's gotta be hurt.. right?

OL usually the slowest position group tobe developed coming out of high school. Most are not physically ready for what is asked of them. Yes exceptions can be named but that is not the norm. Developing an elite OL usually takes several years when you have little to start with. There has been improvement over last year but still a couple year from be img elite . Just hope we see continued improvement next year shouldbe agood OL . Long ways from having an elite line like 2001/2002 though.
