One of the biggest coups of the 2024 class was flipping WR Ny Carr from the Georgia Bulldogs. The freshman WR spoke to CanesInSight about his transition to Miami:

On avoiding the freshman wall: You can never feel like you’re too comfortable. Always have the mindset of grind, grind, grind. The more you learn, the easier it will be. Watching film, watching the older guys, day in and day out, and asking questions.

On avoiding the freshman wall: You can never feel like you’re too comfortable. Always have the mindset of grind, grind, grind. The more you learn, the easier it will be. Watching film, watching the older guys, day in and day out, and asking questions.

On adjusting to the big city: I can get used to the big city stuff. I’m from a small town, but the type of person I am, I like to get out and see stuff. My mom stays in Tampa. My dad’s back in Georgia, but he’s been down a lot. They’re glad I made the decision I made.

On the competition amongst the freshmen: We’re really focused on learning. We’re going to need to step up and do our job because anything can happen at any moment.

On where he lines up: I’m at X behind Isaiah [Horton], but you never know how that might go. You just have to trust the process. I’m also at kick returner and punt returner.

On adjusting to the different quarterbacks: Our quarterback room is so good, when one of them is out nothing changes. You don’t miss a beat.

On hearing from Michael Irvin and Andre Johnson: The stuff they did here was amazing. Being able to see them come back and pour into us, that was a great thing.

Any word on how Chance is doing since he arrived? Thanks

Everyone interviewed is saying the right types of things. Can’t wait to see this years freshmen get some game reps. Will be interesting to see how much run they get throughout the year. Even if none of them are starters, they will need significant reps ahead of next year to keep the momentum we have been building.

Psyched we have Carr and our WR room is loaded with top P4 talent 3 deep. But I agree that it feels like the Canes Collective is giving these guys great media training. These interviews are fun to read, but a window into what's really going on.

Very likeable kid. I appreciate his candor because it's natural. There's nothing duplicitous about Ny. Like someone said, he doesn't know how to lie yet lol. Rooting for him to breakout this year.

Our success this season will come down to the Class of 2024. In this modern era of college football, it comes down to your 2nd year players. If they pop, you’ve got a good chance at having a very good team.

1st year players who contribute are a luxury - can’t bank on a Mauigoia every year.

3+ year guys are either heavy contributors or pushed/portalled out.

Ny and the 2024 guys will determine our success in 2025: JoJo, Scott, Blount, Patterson, A. Jones, OJ, Pruitt, Lyle….

If these guys take the next step and produce, we make the playoffs.
