You think the UNM Athletic director pulled out because he “doesn’t want the job”? Come one. It’s obvious he was told that he was not getting the job, but in consideration of his current employer, it looks a lot better to let him make the public statement withdrawing his name. Remember when Al Golden withdrew his name from consideration for the PSU job? That was face saving just like this is.

I have to say I'm a little relieved it wasn't him. Seems like a nice guy but from going from Rockstar AAD at LSU to AD at U of New Mexico is a head scratcher. Weird as this may sound, if we'd had hired him from LSU while he was the King Dingaling AAD making 400 mil deals, I'd probably have supported the move more. It's like hiring a guy that was a successful #2 at a Fortune 100, and then he leaves to be the CEO of some tiny manufacturing plant in PoDunk, Nebraska. There might be legit reasons for it, but it still looks weird.
