Notre Dame resume is terrible

Yeah, that's all we heard last year, right? We didn't beat anyone good, so we can't get in. So what holds more weight, playing a good team and losing, or beating a good team?
Different rules for different teams. We've seen this garbage for decades. Remember when we "lost" to ND in 88 and people thought there should be a rematch of the two best teams in the country, but West Virginia was undefeated and ND got to play them instead of us? Fast forward to 1993. West Virginia is undefeated, and FSU had their own loss to Notre Dame. A game they got beaten soundly, even though the score was close. Does West Virginia get a shot at Nebraska to win the title? Nope. FSU does, because now West Virginia being undefeated doesn't matter. It only mattered when Miami was the team getting jumped.

This sport is rigged every way possible.

We have to stop worrying about Notre Dame. They are getting in the playoffs. Jumping someone else should be our goal so we need to make it look good the last 2 weeks. A hot Miami team is going to be appealing to the committee

I think most of the local and national discourse has shifted from "Why is ND in?" to "If ND is in, Miami should be in, too." And I think that's correct. I think ND is one of the best 12 and most deserving teams, and I think Miami is as well.

We lost 2 games, one by 3, and one in overtime on the road, to two teams that are both 7-3. Neither of those are catastrophic losses that should disqualify you from a 12-team playoff. In the last 5 games, we have those 2 losses, but also 3 wins by a score of 121-24. Yes, bad teams. But we crushed all 3 by an average of 40 to 8.

I still think we're on the outside looking in and need teams ahead of us to lose, because the committee has told you very clearly what they think of the ACC, but it is nice to see a ton of national media calling attention to the disparity. If you want to put ND in, fine. But Miami has to be there too. They're either both in, or both out. But you can't put ND in and leave Miami out.

(Spoiler alert: They assuredly will unless they're forced not to aka OU and Bama lose).

Lets take care of business and then worry about the rest. I think part of the reason ND getting in over us isnt being talked about as much as it should be is because most dont believe we finish at 10-2. If we do, I think the noise will get louder.

Doesn’t matter. Goal posts have moved. Now it’s who did you lose to. According to this committee clown we lost to 2 unranked teams while ND did not. Ironically no one on ESPN questioned what does that mean for 2 loss Bama who got boat raced by FSU.

And espn already saying if Bama makes the sec championship they can lose because you can’t penalize a team for losing their champ game. But you can give a eye test benefit to a team who plays non conference opponents who sit their QB for the game and one who’s coach says they don’t care if they lose by 100 because the game means nothing.

Our only chance is to make and win the acccg.

I think, if we're ranked within 1 or 2 spots of them come the final ranking, they'll have to put us ahead of ND.. we'd be too similar at that point.

If we're 5+ spots apart, they could justify saying "we're not similar enough" through whatever BS they want.

If we jump Vandy tonight, I think we'll pass ND eventually as long as we win out.
It’s obvious the committee doesn’t care about our win over ND. They should at least compare our records against similar opponents: NC State, Syracuse, and Pitt.

They are actually betting that we lose 1 more game.

Don't get me wrong, I think ND is a solid team. However, at some point you have to actually beat teams with a pulse, not just lose close games.

How good are the teams you beat? That should carry more weight than how good the teams are that you lost to. Even if it is marginally. Give them some credit for close losses, sure. Give them more credit for beating good teams. If you don't have that on your resume, you shouldn't get an abundance of credit for beating terrible teams. Terrible teams aren't playoff contenders, and are a terrible measuring stick of how good you really are.
Also, remember since ND isn’t in a conference, they can hand pick their schedule.

wait till u realize u can tab them in the playoffs next year with their sh*tty schedule .

Im almost down to cancel their game next year if we had balls. Us beating them means nothing in the grand scheme as they use us as a good loss or good win.

id rather get out of that one, they are currently hoping an wishing we keep the game because we currently are their best scheduled matchup as they might not even have usc to play.

Surprised more isn’t made of Navy sitting their starting QB and Narduzzis comments about not caring about that game and then coming out looking flat and unprepared.
This is not brought up enough. It’s a massive advantage for Notre dame. Every game they play isn’t a conference game. Navy is trying to win the American. Pitt is trying to win the ACC (not sure if they can). So on and so forth. So teams aren’t giving them their best shot. It’s bs

Lmao at the CFP saying the ND had better quality loses when one of those quality loses was to us.

SIAP but I listened to a good story today about how the committee is looking at teams. It is done on a 6 team pod basis. Currently Miami is not in Notre Dames pod so they are not even comparing them. We need to get up to 12 to be in the pod as we are one spot out. There are exceptions to this in the committee bylaw and it will probably happen anyway this week as long as we take care of business. We really need to show out on Saturday. If we lay a dud, even in victory, they will not consider us. If we get into the same pod, they will put us side by side with ND and do a compare of everything with good emphasis on head to head of course. What hurts us a bit is that it was first game and we won by 3. If we didnt take our foot off the gas it certainly would have helped (that goes for fsu as well) Our mid season struggles are still in everyones brain and we need to change the narrative.

the focus shouldnt be on nd and should definitely be on other teams above us. They threw the wool over yall eyes with the nd talk while they continue to rank the tenn an mizzous of the world higher at the back end to be food for the other teams to show ranked wins.

Agree. But we are getting some good nd momentum. Bama should be ahead of ND but that may help us and can put is hogher. Utah def should be below us. Will need to show out in Beauty contest next couple of weeks. It was good to hear how they grade. We are currently highest graded in our pod. We really need to move up.

I'm not sure why all this discussion is going on. We still have two very important games left on our schedule. I hope we win both games convincingly and then the committee must decide if we belong. Based on Mario's track record near the of the season I think you're going to come up short. ND laid a drubbing on Pitt and I just don't see that happening when we play Pitt. We should never be in this situation and if we don't make the playoffs there is one person that shoulders the blame 10000% and that's Mario Cristobal. He coached both games against Louisville and SMU to lose and that's exactly what happened. His brain needs an complete overhaul on day game coaching the sidelines. I agree with the narrative that we should be in the playoffs if we blow out VT and Pitt but I just don't see it because Mario is the head coach.

Bad news. We didn't account for the fact that miami actually lost
