Notre Dame Opts Out of Bowl Game

it gets better>>>>>>>>

I'm sorry, but what in the actual **** is this?

How & why was this agreed to? The "commitee" shouldn't have power to do this. This is unabashedly corrupt. A team that doesn't have to play in a conference, gets a sweetheart deal with the acc, now gets official guarantees of playoff entry without putting any skin in the game.

Brand be damned. This is like the cowboys saying "nah, **** them divisions & conferences, we'll pick our ***** schedule & regardless of record, we getting a wild card at least." If teams don't agree to play them they have no brand! THE. ****. IS. THIS?

tbh... bowl games are completely meaningless now.

The playoff expanding to 23 separate games can perhaps bring them back to life.
Bowl games are really only a money grab, they’d have opt outs and it would like a spring game. I get if it was us we all wanted us to play and ,ale a point but not sure we’d have Bain, mesidor or Francis.

What is this supposed to prove?

The coaches and administrators are supposed to be leaders. The program is tasked with turning these kids into men. And what have you done? You’ve shown impressionable kids that when things don’t go your way you pick up your ball and go home. That is soft. Play in the game and get ready to go on your revenge tour next year. Don’t shut it down to prove nothing. Where are the adults who are supposed to be in charge?

I don't think people realize we're literally watching the death of the sport as we've known it

It’s started with espn owning the playoff and sec years ago. Committee created this when it should’ve never gotten to this point. Miami should’ve been over ND the last couple of weeks.

I knew today was the day it all changed. They boxed themselves in a corner either way. Moving up bama after Auburn and then not moving them at all after a blowout but moving byu. The whole thing got exposed today. It’s all getting blown up. I started a thread this morning and it’s 100% coming true

What's really going on here is Notre Dame knew they wouldn't have their best players due to opt outs and they didn't want to face ridicule for losing to a full strength BYU team in the poptart bowl.

Everyone would've mocked them for losing like they did to us last year. But now, if we lose they can just say they should've been in over us without actually proving it on the field.

Par the course for them.

I wouldn't count on an MOU being enforceable. It's not a contract in the sense we think of binding contracts. Of course, it depends on the specifics, but this may just be nonsensical cope from ND.

It's called entitlement.

Good for ND I hope this starts a trend for teams who feel they got ****ed and besides the bowl games are a nothing. I was hoping that if the canes didn’t make the playoff they would opt out of a bowl. ND has their own network contract etc they can afford it I see it as something positive although I despise ND.
