So Notre Dame turned down a bowl game with BYU, only to then schedule BYU and drop USC? Hilarious. Not to mention, committee sees USC as USC and a 2 loss BYU team as dead on arrival

USC dropped them because the game is too late in the season. 1-7 against ND in their last 8.

“Notre Dame and USC were on the verge of finalizing a two-year extension in November, Yahoo reports, though USC officials backed out after determining that the timing of the proposed game was not ideal given the CFP selection committee's tendency to punish late-season losses.”

If you go into any of the Notre Dame spaces they have convinced themselves that by season's end they could have beaten the 2001 Miami Hurricanes and 2017 LSU Tigers back to back. Forget that in the month of November they were in a 1 score game with BC in the 4th quarter. Miami's victory over Texas A&M, a team they lost to, is just further proof that Notre Dame should have been there.

The level of delusion is bordering on psychosis with some of these people. It's absolutely wild to read.

Every serious P4 team should drop them. Not only is there zero benefit to playing ND for P4 teams, ND is guaranteed a playoff spot if they finish in the top 12. do not help them get there by increasing their strength of schedule
Not really-They sell out everywhere they go and their TV ratings are way up there. You are losing money when you do not play ND. ---We are not in the playoffs this year without the win vs ND !

Most teams are not going to play Notre Dame. Soon their strength of schedule will be nominal. Why should teams add a difficult game to their schedule? Teams need to go through their Conference schedule and there's no percentage in playing Notre Dame. I'm sure that Notre Dame is willing to play anybody but soon nobody will play Notre Dame and their schedule will be field without unranked teams.

Do you mean soon nobody will play Notre Dame and their schedule will be field without ranked teams???

Who actually agreed with ND that if they are in top12 they get an automatic bid?

Was it the majority of the conference commissioners?

Not sure if that's been agreed to yet just proposed. I thought they were waiting until after this years championship to adjust the 2026 playoff rules.

I’ve seen it posted on here that the CFP committee agreed. I’ve seen that the conferences agreed. Any and all of this would be crazy. I hope there’s a backlash and it’s cut off.
