Notre Dame guaranteed a playoff spot

they are usually in the top 15 in viewership numbers though...Alabama was #1 so may have been part of the reason the committee selected them to be in the CFP despite getting 3 losses and trounced in the SEC championship game.
It’s a real fallacy in the system and a self-fulfilling one at that. Bama and SEC already get favoritism with rankings and the committee and this whole system solidifies it institutionally unfairly

The principle of it is disgusting, but would this really change much in a practical sense? The committee is still in full control of the outcome like always. If they thought another team(s) deserved a spot more, couldn't they just put ND at 13? It's not that I think they would necessarily do the right thing, but if they want to engage in bias or favoritism, they can do it with or without this agreement.

Steve Spurrier has been asking this for decades.
agree, ND bright light and rep has been in decline for quite some time, they are 7 th best in viewership & with conferences going to 9 games makes scheduling games tougher.
look at SC Trojans the home & Home is now DOA and SC is saying season opener neutral sight only . any other conference will not let them keep football cash option .
notice ND is saying nothing about how we stepped forward & saved their -ss during covid
schmucks pure and simple

do you feel that notre dame is going to hand pick who they go into the big10 with? What power does notre dame have to be “our ticket” into big10? If the big10 wants us that’s all that matters.
Not hand pick per se. But additions are gonna happen only in pairs. It helps to have a partner when you make your pitch. I think sticking with ND would give us an advantage towards joining the B1G as it looks more like ND’a independence is under threat. We saw pairs last time the B1G expanded. USC and UCLA & Oregon and Washington.

not sure that's the right way to go about it. Why make their path even easier? There will be teams starving for revenue willing to schedule them because they drive up viewership ratings and butts in the seat. And those teams will probably be lower tiered teams.

The real culprit is the CFP committee because they agreed to this deal. If teams are serious let the big boys collude by boycott participating in the CFP. Doubt this happens but it would make a bigger splash than just boycotting playing ND because they will replace teams dropping out of their schedule with other teams anyways.
ND is their worse enemy. They make this deal, then b*t*h and moan, and complain and threaten the ACC. Why would you S**t on the only conference that helps your other sports? Over a temper tantrum bc you rightly were excluded from the CFP. F**k you a**holes. Now, it appears that no one will schedule you from the major conferences.Whats the point? Let them build a 12-0 record against G5 schools of Jr Colleges. But, never let them get to more than 13, send the message. F—k you until you join a conference.

What I would love to see is the committee rank ND #1 next year preseason. After every game, no mater what the outcome, drop them 1 spot.
Final rank #13.

Sick fantasy, but it would put them in their place.

If ranked in the top 12 according to a MOU signed this past spring. You gotta be kidding me. Reason 7,423,792 to hate them. Bunch of soft *** puzzies.

Y everyone continues to capitulate to a ghost of the past will forever be my head scratcher.

What's funny is that they put all of their other sports but football in the ACC, then whined about how their "independent" football program was at a disadvantage to conference teams in order to get this soft *** concession.
