Notre Dame guaranteed a playoff spot

Once the ACC dies in the near future, Notre Dame is ****ed. They can no longer be independent, because the Big 10 and SEC aren't going to have room to schedule them with a 9 game conference schedule. And the Big 12 has no reason to help them either.

No one will take them seriously scheduling Army, Navy, and a bunch of MAC teams.

I applaud Yorkman's comments against Bevacqua and his ACC comments. I appreciate the wording egregious more than anything. but I am not a fan of Yorkman. These 2 are about to be in playoff meetings together as Bevacqua has a seat with conference commissioner's. Yorkman is looking out for the Big 12 not the ACC. ND will not be most certainly will not be frozen out even though no one approves of what they are doing. When it comes to expansion, ND is sharing the SEC's view. The Big 12 and ACC share the B1G's view. That is what this is really about and Yorkman knows ND will not get pushed out by AD's.

Rad needs to be one of those:

Makes zero sense to play them if they are now going to steal 1 of the big12, Acc, G5 champions spot.

It is now 2 guaranteed spots for conference champions (Sec&Big10). More than likely 3 but one can’t be so sure that the acc, big12, or g5 champion will be ranked above 13.

Get them off of the schedule
Agreed. Since they made such a big stink of how they felt they were robbed this year. How about showing them ******** what real power looks like. Stick together....Refuse to play their little games. Taking them off of the schedules, would be a good start. But they won't do that, because ND brings eyes and money.

I kinda disagree, ND could be our ticket into getting into the Big 10. Generally schools enter as pairs, and if ND feels enough pressure to actually join the Big 10. We should keep enough good will for us to be their yearly pairing.

There will be enough institutional pushback from everyone else on this MOU bullcrap.
do you feel that notre dame is going to hand pick who they go into the big10 with? What power does notre dame have to be “our ticket” into big10? If the big10 wants us that’s all that matters.

This is frankly hilarious only because we know that ND are a bunch of sanctimonious P*icks as evidenced by their AD’s recent behavior. On a more serious note, it is about time other stood up against the favorable treatment ND always demands, and receives.

The ND Athletics Director may have just stirred the hornets nest. I am confident the feelings of the Big 12’s commissioner are not unique to him.
Everyone else has to share its money, except ND
Everyone else has to earn a spot with no guarantees, except ND.

It’s time ND plays by the same rules as everyone else, OR, gets left out.

The issue for me with avoiding ND is that they will still be ranked highly if they run the table against a trash schedule, because they are Notre dame. What the conferences should do is only have their top teams play them so there are losses on their resume. It maximizes the viewership for the conference, and if they happen to knock off 5 or 6 of the top power conference teams a year, well then they do deserve a spot in the playoff.

we have decades worth of equity from the rivalry... shouldn't be much recency bias on this one. We should be viewed as their more capable rivals for the next 5 years even if we don't play again.

$$$$$$ large viewership and national brand

Not as much as you’d think. Our viewership is almost identical. They were the 15th most viewed team this past season. More people watched the UF and FSU dumpster fires than ND.

Their draw isn’t what it’s made out to be.

Why is this not getting greater attention? It defies common sense, and would outrage most reasonable people. It reeks of currupt, backroom politics by a bunch of cigar-smoking fat cats and good 'ole boys. Seems like a media blitz is needed, it hurts everyone except ND.

An exaggeration, no? More power than the SEC?
“The CFP Management Committee for the College Football Playoff is a group of conference commissioners (Big Ten, SEC, ACC, etc.) and the Notre Dame AD, responsible for the day-to-day operations and governance of the CFP, overseeing the selection committee's work but ultimately subject to the larger Board of Managers. This committee handles crucial decisions, like approving playoff format changes, while the separate Selection Committee picks and ranks the teams“

Even if you beat Notre Lame, they’ll still try to use that as a “good loss” to weasel their way into the CFP.

Don’t give them that opportunity.
💯 The committee was giving them more credit for losing to us than us credit for beating them. And this only changed when the committee was cornered in the end when they jumped bama ahead of them and everyone else who we needed to win, won. These conferences are crazy to include them. And ours is the worst.

What is the “Management Committee”? How do they “guarantee” a playoff spot for ND & no-one else? By manipulating the ratings? Sounds like bribery to me.

I don’t want to go to the B1G but yes, I think if ND went to the B1G and said they’ll join if Miami is their partner to join, the B1G would do it.
